I was really looking forward to seeing Neil Patrick Harris in "Hedwig & the Angry Inch" tonight---until I ran into the Program Nazi Lady on the 3rd floor balcony level. Another patron said the "guards" at stage level were surly, as well, and even the people ushering you in to the theater as you entered were rather unfriendly and unwelcoming ,but the PNL (ProgramNaziLady) takes the cake. I got up to the 3rd floor balcony (last ticket in the house, I think) in BALCO Zone 320, B, 24, 2nd seat from end of row, partially obscured by a balcony with a light in it, & realized I had no program, but saw the Program Nazi Lady (PNL) holding a bunch & said, politely, "May I have a program, please?" A: "Not until you get in your seat." (!) I sat in my seat and chatted amiably with 2 young girls to my left & soon, a Russian lady took the end seat. It was SO COLD that I ended up wearing TWO sweaters & I think I have frostbite as I type this, but nevermind about that. Ater about 1 hr. the 2 girls to my left moved over 2 seat because there was a no show and an empty seat, which would have allowed the poor Russian girl to move over 1 (and me to move over 1), because the Russian patron couldn't see much at all (my seat could see the left side of stage, but not the right). The girls moved (I would have followed, but PNL absolutely attacked them and told them, "We have late arrivals." LATE ARRIVALS? It was a good hour into the show! I did NOT move, but that was because the poor teenagers were completely cowed and moved back to their right 1 seat and the Russian lady got up and LEFT. Absolutely left! She was freezing, couldn't see, and this PNL (Program Nazi Lady) ought to be told that patrons have paid at least $100 for a ticket, even if it is in the "No See" zone, and the very least they should be able to expect is a polite program lady, not a Program Nazi Lady who put the Soup Nazi to shame. I get to NYC rarely (Chicago) and I've never had such an unpleasant experience at a Broadway play. (Motown was a delight; Fences, the same). This woman ought to be taken aside and given a lesson in Midwestern politeness. For that matter, her little display of power about the "We have late arrivals" was so blatantly not germane to someone who DID NOT SHOW UP AT ALL EVER, that she should be ashamed of herself. That plus the AC totally ruined the AC for me, drove 1 of 4 patrons completely out of the theater, and when I review it (for Yahoo, et. al.) I shall certainly make mention of the truly unfriendly, completely crappy treatment we...
Read moreWhere do I begin. This only gets a two because of my love and support for one of the performers in the play I was going to see. I purchased tickets August 11th from Gametime. A reputable ticketing vendor used widely in the industry. I received a double confirmation from them with my actual tickets 2 days prior to the show I so desperately wanted to see. I am a huge fan of Smartless, an amazing, hilarious podcast with 3 very amazing fellas. Now they raved in support of one of their brothers on their performance in Goodnight Oscar. I had to work in NYC for a couple of weeks and was so excited his show was still going to run while I was there. I found a day that worked perfect with my work schedule and sat back and waited to be ready to get immersed in fan basedom as a Smartless follow. I will add this was going to be my first broadway show ever! I'm 44 lol! Now, we get there, our tickets get scanned and are accepted, albeit we arrived 10 min late, so sorry performer's and low and behold there were people in our seats. How did this happen? When we came out to inquire how this happened the box office manager, Anne, immediately approach us with aggression and spoke at us like we are at fault for using an online vendor to purchase tickets instead of the box office. Unfortunately, I had no other choice as I live in Arizona. She spoke at us that she had never heard of gametime before. We questioned how were we able to get scanned in. Asked when those house tickets were sold as I started to feel like they sold those just tonight because we were late and they might have assumed we weren't coming and if that was the case ok, this happens but what will you do now to help us who spent 350.00 each for this show! Sean Hayes worth every penny of course, but this was like no consumer support I have ever experienced. She offered me nothing but to leave feeling belittled, insulted, out 1152.00 I paid for me a 2 friends, and empty handed. Very disappointed and unfortunately my broadway experience is not in a good way (frown face). I really was looking forward to seeing Sean's vocal, piano skills that Jason and Will spoke so highly of, uh! Now I'll...
Read more10/16/2021 Girl from the North Country: If you are going to book tickets and thinking of getting Balcony seats, DO NOT CHOOSE Row 101 to 114. That is the front end of the Balcony and you will never have a good view of the entire stage specially the front stage. I bought tickets and choose seats 101 to 103, because I do not like to be in front of tall people where their heads will be blocking my view. This is my first time to be in there and to my surprise, the long bar that holds the lights were directly in front of us. We have to scoot forward to see the entire stage. We only see the middle to back of the stage in our line of sight if we seat back.
Here's the fun part, I reached out and speak with the Usher assigned this night and told her about our concern. Instead of hearing me out, she said sarcastically "You bought the tickets, right!?" I was stunned about her reply. I think she needs to retire. All I want to ask is to be re-seated to another section since there were a lot of empty seats!
The show is very nice! My family enjoyed the entire musical and we loved it. I highly recommend for Broadway show fans to watch "Girl from the...
