Stonefruit Espresso + Kitchen — Restaurant in New York

DON’T COME HERE. The baristas are putting unknown substances in customers drinks and the owner doesn’t care. She will advocate for her staff even if they commit a crime. She thinks complaints by customers are related to the price of coffee. The price is dictated by supply demand and cost of goods so every one knows why prices are relatively higher . If I wanted something for free I would continue getting stamps, but I don’t do that because I can’t support a business that doesn’t value customer satisfaction.

The baristas have been putting unknown substances in my drink. I saw them do it and they denied it. I caught one of the baristas ( a tall white guy) on the week of 11/20/23 put an unknown substance in my iced latte. I addressed the manager (short Hispanic woman) and she complained that she doesn’t know what I’m talking about.

The manger thought I was upset about the price of my iced latte, so she ignored me.

I called the owner and she checked the cameras and the owner found proof of what i witnessed. The owner ignored what she saw on the cameras.

The barista who put an unwanted substance in my drink still works there as of 11/29/23 despite the food health and safety violations he committed on the week of 11/20/23.

The owner ignored my complaint and doesn’t care that her workers put unwanted and unknown substances in customers drinks. She thinks that my complaint wasn’t valid because I mentioned how I paid $7 for my drink.

I did not complain about the price, the latte is regularly priced and I don’t mind the price because it was good coffee.

I want to make clear that I expected my order to come exactly how I placed it without unknown and unwanted substances inside, (reason for my complaint) and to receive great customer service by the workers.

My $7 went not to my satisfaction instead to their pockets. I wasn’t satisfied because I caught a barista trying to put an unknown substance in my latte. This is why I’m contacting DCS. NO ONE and NO Business should give a customer something they did not order, unless requested and authorized by the customer. The owner of stonefruit espresso doesn’t value giving customers what they ordered and she doesn’t value the integrity of maintaining a business. This is another reason why I’m contacting DCS.

I will make sure that there will be a thorough investigation of this cafe by the authorities , whom the owner can’t ignore. She’s a horrible host and so are her workers .

I visited the cafe today 11/29 and I ordered my regular iced latte oat milk extra ice not a lot of milk. the barista (manager) put something in my drink and I saw some brown heterogenous mixture on the bottom of my cup separate from the espresso which was standing at the top of the cup above the oat milk. I gave them the benefit of the doubt before accusing them of putting an unwanted substance in my drink, and I mixed the coffee and took a sip. the latte tasted like hazelnut. I didn’t order hazelnut. But I tasted hazelnut in my drink. I went back to the cafe to address the fact that my latte tasted like hazelnut. She caught an attitude so I went to the owner who was in the back and she said “I don’t see any sweetener in your drink.”

liquid sweetener mixes translucent with any drink so that’s why she couldn’t see the sweetener. Again her lack of reaction on my behalf ( I didn’t come at her workers, her workers came at me) is another reason why I’m contacting...

Soooo hipster! It is amazing the transformation that could take place from being outside the cafe to walking in.

We all know the grim and grubby Bed-Stuy, and we also know how slowly the area is gentrifying and cafes/restaurants are popping up everywhere. While people are smoking crack only a few feet away, the moment you walk in to Stonefruit, you forget the grittiness of the outdoors.

The decor suits the earthy farm to table vibe going on with plants everywhere and tables and chairs made from restored wood. In the backroom if I'm not mistaken they sell plants etc. Yes, the vibe is immensely chill. I came here for breakfast and ordered the Avocado Smash on Shewolf, White Fish on Shewolf and the Yogurt Pot. Also ordered a cappuccino and mocha. The employee taking my order was friendly and very understanding (because I was indecisive).

Each dish had a world of flavor and you can taste the care going into make it. They use super fresh, healthy and organic ingredients. I am a total fan of the white fish toast, an absolute must get if you come here.

The coffees were very very strong, some might say that's a good thing, but I feel like it could be a little less and it would be a beautiful 5 star coffee.

You may be someone just coming for breakfast with friends or you may be someone looking for a chill place to work with your laptop or read book. Either way Stonefruit knows how to please em all.
