THANK YOU! The garlic aioli is back!!! Incredible response time and adjustment by this business, so kudos to the owner and the chef. I appreciate you bringing back the Aioli SO FAST and I have already had one of the sunrise sandwiches⦠I will be back tomorrow, and next weekend, and the weekend afterā¦
10/5 this place HITS
and shoutout to Nico for being a homie and providing the best service ever
I write this review with incredible disappointment. I came to Sunrise/sunset every single weekend for the last 6 months to have their sunrise breakfast sandwich. It was something I looked forward to every single weekend. I was VERY passionate about this sandwich and told everyone it was the #1 breakfast sandwich in New York.
Unfortunately they recently decided to change the ingredients. They are no longer making their garlic aioli and instead have decided to use an incredibly mediocre, vegan alternative. They decided to consolidate the menu, which I understand, but this has to be the single worst business decision they have made.
Because of the change of aioli the entire flavor profile of the sandwich changed. I couldnāt even finish it when I went there for the last time. The bartender dismissed my comment about the aioli even though I was giving feedback as a paying, ex-loyal customer.
I regret to say I will not be going back and have told my close friends the same. Incredibly disappointing and a MAJOR setback to my weekend routine, and for their customer base.
If the owner is reading this, please please PLEASE ask the chef to make the garlic aioli again so I can come back!!! I miss this place.
sincerely, A passionate customer looking for a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIt's extremely understaffed. It takes forever to get a simple coffee. The baristas also work slowly and have long conversations with customers instead of working on the 7 orders that are waiting. Most of the baristas are rude most of the time. There's maybe one friendly-ish barista that does the bare minimum of greeting you and asking for your order. Other baristas just stare at you silently and frown while waiting for you to order without saying that they're expecting you to order. It's like they only respect their regulars and hate you otherwise. I've watched them make the order of 5 regulars that came in after me before making me the easiest plain latte that takes 1 minute. Don't go here if you value your time and don't want to get to know a barista you won't see again for months.
Their tips START at 20% and go up to 30%. The point of sale screen doesn't even have a "no tip" option, you have to go to "custom tip" and enter an amount. I don't think you need to tip 20% to have a muffin put in a bag, maybe 10%. They should pay their staff more and not make us pay them. The owners seem very greedy based on the tipping and the overpriced food.
Edit: It's hilarious that the owner responded as if they were there. I'm 95% sure the owner doesn't even live in the state of NY because I've never seen a manager or owner there. There was a very long wait and the physical Point of Sales inside the cafe does indeed start at a 20% tip. It's absolutely pathetic that the owner thinks they can just fix their problems by being condescending on Google reviews instead of fixing their very...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI've been in the neighborhood for awhile now, and this has been one of my go-to spots for several years.
If I could leave separate reviews for the staff and for how this place was run, I would. FIVE STARS. The staff here is INCREDIBLE. Mico, Luke, Alysha, Leina, et al. are phenomenal and truly make this place feel like home. This place would not be the same without them.
Lately, the recent changes to Sunrise/Sunset have made this place feel less than welcoming. As someone who works from home several days a week at Sunrise, the WiFi limits seem like a puzzling choice to make as a business, especially as a coffee shop.
And now there is a recent ban on computers on the weekends? This seems erratic and like SS is shooting itself in the foot. Bushwick is a community of artists who do not work regular hours. Why would you purposefully exclude your customer base from going to your place of business? Especially when there are other local coffee shops without these limitations like La Ziza down the street, Cup of Brooklyn, and The Buren.
Here's to hoping that Sunrise can return to its former glory. I would hate for the magic of SS to disappear with more seemingly unnecessary admin changes.
**On a side note, Sunrise also used to have a ton of different events that were free to attend, and it feels like the events programming has also declined over the past year aside from...
