Sushi Mambo is probably one of the most innovative ideas in fusion food, so before even going I was excited.. My excitement completely deflated when the waitress asked me the time of my reservation, began to seat my party, but when I tell her that my reservation was with a Groupon she immediately stops on the way to the table has us wait by the door for 5minutes and then tells us theres no reservation with that name.. what?!
80$ Groupon prepaid and we have to come out of pocket, not happy but we continued our evening.. the soft spoken, voiceless waitress finely came to the table after we sat for 10minutes, but not to take our order.. To tell us that we have to move, because a party of like 10 are coming.. (now I see why my Groupon was rejected), so we moved no harm no foul.. but what made matters worse, was the young lady decided that because the entire party was a friend of the family that she'd take their order before ours.. As shes taking there order she allows the party to continue to add tables to the existing table squeezing myself and my girlfriend into the most confined space in the house..
Obviously expecting to eat 80$ worth of food and now being blindsided by having to pay cash, the young lady scoff at my order off of their traditional rolls section. How much ruder could she be honestly?! After ordering close to 20minutes after sitting at the table with a non busy wait-staff, we had to wait up to another 15/20minutes for a Coke in double tiered shot glass (filled to the rim with ice). Martini the young lady recommended tasted like a spoiled Casaba juice. The food after waiting nearly 30minutes, was simply food.. the Chicken Bento box was literally one filleted piece of chicken chopped in sauce and served like that of one you could get at one of the better supermarkets here in NY. To be quite honest half way into our experience myself and girlfriend were sitting back like this isn't worth 20%, then we get squeezed into the corner we're like "Nope, 15%-12% being nice" get the bill the young ladies decided to place an automatic 18% tip to the bill like NO! You don't treat people like less than someone else to then steal from the them.. And yes I consider it as stealing as in NYC it is illegal to auto-bill gratuity to...
Read moreThis is continuation from previous review... Well, when we asked for the check, my bill only had my drink and not my sister's drink. I told her what happened, the drinks were supposed to be on my bill. I'm paying for my sister's drink. She told me no because her drink had to be on her groupon bill. I was like What?? that makes no sense. I was the one who bought my sister the drink, You mean to tell me that I cannot buy a drink for my sister just because she has a groupon? double wow!! I was so upset, asked for a manager. Lesthy is annoyed and the rest of staff was telling me that those are the manager's rules. Are you kidding me? I told them I want the drink on my bill, I offered it to my sister, why should she pay for it? I could easily given my sister the $12 but its just the principle of it, them trying to tell me #1 - I couldn't buy a pitcher on happy hour because I was sitting at a table paying with a groupon. #2- I then ordered two mojitos, one at happy hour price and the other at regular price because it was for my sister and she had a groupon. #3 and lastly, I ordered two drinks and only one was one my bill. The other drink had to appeared at my sister's bill because she had a groupon. So finally after arguing and explaining myself, both drinks were on my bill. My bill came out to be $28.55 and my sister's bill $18.21. So my sister is paying taxes and gratuities on her groupon. I was wondering how come by bill was so much for 2 drinks. A $12 and $6 taxes was $1.56 and gratuity $8.55. This is 45% gratuity. She really thought I was that dumb. Imagine, I was paying more for gratuity for her horrible service than my drink. I told them to remove the gratuities. They told me that they will remove it for my bill but for my sister's bill they couldn't because you have to pay it automatically for groupon. Lastly, I gave her a $100 bill. She took the bill and was checking it with extra gestures, flipped it, rubbed it, scratched it, then walked inside bar to find a highlighter and highlighted like 3 times pretending like if I am giving her a fake bill. This got me so mad that I told her Yes check it real good. WORST...
Read moreMyself and three friends went for a fun evening. Food, drinks, and atmosphere were great, however the menu is misleading and apparently missing some important information. Upon taking our drink orders of margaritas, and appetizers, the waiter asked us to choose from three listed alcohol selections, Don Julio, Casa Migos, and some other tequila. We all selected our tequila of choice, and proceeded to have two drinks per person for the evening. Our drinks and appetizers came out fairly quickly, however the orders of sushi unfortunately, took almost an hour to come to the table. Once we were done, we asked for the bill, and reviewed the bill once received. The bill was extremely confusing, as they label each person consuming on the table, a table number. We noticed $50 charges for 2 margaritas, and also noticed $8 charges with no explanation next to it. Upon asking the waiter, it was explained that we were being charged more than the $14 price for margaritas due to the selections of tequila. Now we are a bunch that frequent wine and dining and understand selections of choice for drinks may lead to a more charge for the drink, however, we were told from the waiter to please make a selection when ordering the margarita. IN ADDITION, an additional charge for alcohols selection WAS NOT advertised on their menu. We have frequent MANY restaurants, all over the city, where an additional charge for selected alcohol in drinks have been advertised on menus. The young lady's which seemed to be the manager was expressed our concerns regarding the additional charges, however, initially advised there was nothing they are able to do on their end. After deliberately advising we were not willing to pay the charges on the bill, due to no advertisement on their menu, reduced our bill to a lower more calculated reasonable amount. Although we enjoyed their food and drinks, we unfortunately will not be supporting this business due to the experience. We highly recommend that the bill format be simplified, and that the menu may be update to reflect actual charges, to avoid...
