Sushi Star — Restaurant in New York

So many things wrong in this place. I called (12:41pm) and ordered ahead for pick-up. They said pick-up orders will take about 45 mins to an 1hr so I said okay.

(1) already rude on the phone because I was asking questions

(2) I left my house and got to the restaurant at 2pm (which would have given them 1hr 20mins), yet my order wasn’t ready, turns out no one wrote my order so no one’s sure what’s supposed to be in my bag

(3) I ordered 2 miso soup and 2 shrimp tempura roll; I was given only one of each so I told them and they said “you only ordered 1, we can make them again” I wasn’t gonna wait for another 13 minutes that I was standing there. I got out of there at 2:15pm

(4) I got home and got a call from them letting me know that they put cucumber on my shrimp tempura (when I ordered no cucumber in it) so they offered to make it again and deliver it to me lol (I had 10 minutes left in my break time before my next call) so I said no and asked for a refund

(5) They told me they can’t give me a refund for the whole thing (after all of those inconvenience), only refund just for the shrimp tempura, so I said okay fair enough

then I come to find out (6) there was a HAIR IN MY SOUP!!!

My roommate liked his Sushi Deluxe Lunch but I personally just didn’t have a good experience for the first time. Maybe will try again in like...

I have a love/hate relationship with this place.

Their website is really well done and the food really is amazing, but their pricing is sometimes outrages and they really try to squeeze as much money out of you as possible.

I kind of respect that.

For example, if you order form their website you can get free Miso soup, but you HAVE to order from their site to get that perk. They have also significantly shrank the size of their Poke bowls but continue to charge the same $$$ as when they started selling those delicious bowls!

I get everything they are doing and Ive turned anyone who will listen to this place because at the end of the day they deliver on taste and that is what matters, right? The people who work here are also super nice.

Sushi Star is amazing! I was So hungry and usually when someone is very hungry mostly everything is good however I am a sushi lover since young and I know my sushi .. one must always choose the restaurants that has the freshest sushi otherwise ... AND SUSHI STARs SUSHI SASHIMI WAS AMAZING .. FRESH .. TASTY .. AND THE ROLLS DID NOT FALL APART! I recommend If you are in the neighborhood or if you are looking for a place to go GO TO AUSHI STAR on 36th street and 9th AVENUE... Usually the fast food sushi places aren’t so good but SUSHI STAR IS NY NEW SPOT! THE staff are friendly and the place is super clean even the bathroom! FIVE STARS FOR SUSHI STAR!! I’ll DEFINITELY come back...
