July 2022 review: We are very pleased to select Even Hotel New York, Times Square South for our first come back visit to NYC after the pandemic last July. Thanks to Sheila and James who welcomed us upon our arrival day with smile and assigned beautiful room no 2206 and were great help during the whole stay. Thanks to Jazmin who booked our airport transfer and took full details to ensure accuracy. Thanks for HK team who enabled daily cleaning to our room and kept it always neat and tidy especially Betty who is very energetic and helpful.
The room is modern and spacious and beautifully decorated. The room amenities are good.
There is coffee/tea machine inside the room, the coffee, tea and milk quality is excellent and refilled every day. There is ice maker in certain floors.
The hotel location is very unique, close to sightseeing places in Manhattan, stores, restaurants, supermarkets and most importantly Penn subway Station which allowed easy access to Statue of Liberty and American Museum of Natural History. Also the hotel is few minutes walk to Port Authority bus station which enabled us to travel to Woodbury Common Premium outlet.
Overall experience was exceptional due to the unique hotel location, friendly staff, modern and clean room. The hotel is an excellent choice for those who like to stay fit during vacation.
I highly recommend Even Hotel New York for travellers to NYC and certainly it will be our future preferred hotel destination in NYC. Thanks to everyone who made us feel like staying comfortably at home.
April 2023 review: Many Thanks Mr John J Beck and Mr Nico Alipato Even hotel General Managers for their kind efforts to enable best room rate for our April 2023 visit to NYC. Greatly appreciated the support and hospitality that made us feels like homecoming.
We were welcomed by Shayla and Sue upon arrival in the morning then Nyeenya met us to check the available rooms which were ready for our early check-in but we preferred to stay at our last visit room 2206 so we went for a walk until the room was cleaned following the previous guest occupancy.
My husband and I greatly appreciated the daily support of front office team; all of them had several glimpses affected our beautiful stay. Many thanks James, Sheila, Sue, Jackie, Shayla and Vaida.
Many thanks to Jennelly and Gladys our daily HK team who ensured the room always clean and tidy while keeping the coffee machine supplies available all the times. Thanks Mr Jon Zoranski for contacting me to ensure service satisfaction.
Since we were in NYC during raining time so we borrowed umbrellas from the front office desk.
Also, it is highly recommended to request the hotel to arrange airport transfers via black cap at flat rate USD 85 because we had bad experience with airport yellow taxi who delivered us to wrong location (Yellow taxi fare plus city tax cost USD 80).
Finally Even hotel is located in a unique and prime location close to shopping areas, sightseeing, metro stations, bus station, Penn station, Moynihan train hall, cinema, Whole Foods market, cafes and restaurants, everything you need besides the NYPD is next door so the area is highly secured 24/7 so do not forget to take pictures with the police...

The staff here has a few customer service problems. The day before i was staying at another hotel that had this same problem that quickly fixed the situation. I saw that Even hotel had raised my total cost for 2 rooms. so I went there the day before check-in to deal with it. The amenity fee went up after i had reserved the rooms. and told then to fix the problem before I arrive the next day. The woman at the check-in desk immediately started arguing with me over this. I made it clear to here by showing a screen shot of my old reservation that the hotel can not raise the cost after i had booked. She still argued and then said she will talk to the manager. The next day upon check-in the charge was still not removed and again was told she will talk to the manager. (Can't remember if it was the same woman) The second day of the stay she told me it will be removed but no apology like at the last hotel.
The problems didn't stop. Upon check-in I was never recognized for my Platinum status or offered a welcome gift. In fact I had to contact IHG customer service the next week to actually get my 1200 points due me for 2 rooms. When I asked for a room upgrade I was told Even hotels does not participate in the room upgrade benefits for Platinum members. No where does it say Even Hotels are excluded in the section on the app or website where it states what my benefits are. (I'm waiting to hear from IHG after complaining about this too.)
The rooms themselves are small but nice. Being a wellness hotel there is exercise equipment in the room. I did use the yoga mat to stretch out for 2 days after all the walking I did in NYC. However, there is a massive bouncing ball for exercising that takes up way too much space for such a small room. Quite stupid to have this in this type of room really. Nice walk in shower and made in New York bath products.
The rooms face a side street so it was quiet at night.
There is daily housekeeping which was nice to see.
The breakfast is a joke. Way overpriced and taking the wellness idea too far. Nothing offered for those who want a regular, not as good for you breakfast.
Overall I personally would not stay here again with many other IHG hotels in the area, but it is a decent choice if you just look at the room, amenities, and the location. I would have rated 4 stars if not for the check-in problems. My last complaint is that the name is deceptive. Yes it's south of Times Square, but it's not "Times Square South". it's a 15 minute walk. My other hotel on the other side of the block was called Midtown-Manhattan. That's a more...
Read moreThis so called ‘4-star hotel’ was moreso equivalent to staying at a ‘2-star hotel.’ Stayed here for a week.
PROS: In a central location to all major tourist areas, subways, and buses, restaurants, corporate offices.
Full size body wash, shampoo, conditioner, hand wash, and body lotion available inside the bathroom of the room. Only drawback was that these were unscented so please bring your own items if you are not a big fan of unscented items.
Mood lighting control in room. m
Multiple shower heads (rain, etc)
Underbed lighting for nighttime
CONS:
Beds are TINY! I booked a queen and got a double which was truly a twin size.
No parking onsite - there is a parking garage right opposite to the hotel which charges a ridiculous $57 per day charge!
if you really designate yourself as a 4-star hotel, then shouldn’t there be a parking facility at a discounted price for hotel guests?
Understood this is in a city, but designating yourself as a 4-star def should include some perks!
Hotel stinks of weed inside and in the rooms!
A 4-star hotel would be on top of their housekeeping game! Didn’t see none of that here with the weed stinks inside!
Rooms are TINY for a 4-star hotel and DUSTY!
Again, yes this hotel is in a city, but, the room size felt smaller than a standard 2-star hotel room size of the same configuration! So this hotel being a 4-star, there should be a minimum maintenance!
No free breakfast.
Water filling stations DO NOT work. If they do, they give out filthy water! Please DONT drink their water!
Last time I have been/heard of dirty water coming from water filling stations was in a motel decades ago! Isn’t this place a 4-star? Shouldn’t water filling stations atleast be a bare minimum maintained properly for a 4-star level of a hotel?
Convenience as a hotel guest staying in their room for a 4 -star is below average.
Carpet is not deep cleaned regularly so allergy sensitive groups - please watch out for this!
Advertising as a 4-star is a JOKE for this place!
IMO this hotel should be rated 2 star because thats how their facilities and services are!
Unless you all favor the CONS, I would NOT RECOMMEND this place!! The location is the only BEST part...
