Not the NYC vacation or any vacation I would ever want again ! (Hotel Wise…)
First thing when I booked my reservation, it said Cityview, I don’t know what you call the view we had!
1st day look like Blood on blanket went to the front desk. This was 22nd of November the manager on duty that night was very nice. He switched us to a different room. He said that they needed to follow protocol which I understand. Putting us on lower floor putting 2nd floor which OK fine had a little balcony. Not City view though.
I realize that I didn’t have our toothpaste or toothbrushes. I asked guest services three times nobody ever brought them to our room.
The second day there was a noise going off and a guy from the front desk was on the our floor trying to find out where the noise was coming from . Needless to say, we took the stairs, somebody was stuck in the elevator. They tapped on door!
We carried on with our day when arriving back apparently, 11pm the fire alarm was going off again, and everybody was evacuated to the lobby and outside. When I asked services what was going on they said welcome to New York. This happens all the time it’s OK someone just pulled fire alarm . Firetrucks and firefighters came in to do their job and to find out the whole basement was flooded WHY so the elevators are broke. People have to walk up all them stairs.
So that evening I slept in my clothes because I was paranoid and scared of what could happen being that we were on the second floor we could probably jump out. So I had everything packed up, put by the door that was important in case we had to evacuate in the middle of the night again . I wanted to leave, but my husband said, where are we going to go walking down the street with our suitcases we flew in!
it was never confirmed from any guest services of what happened just it was cleared you can go to your room. They never contacted us with update . We did notice some people leaving with their luggage that night.
Also actual fire alarm didn’t make a noise. It just flashed which I thought was alarming myself. I mean you couldn’t hear anything if you’re in your room.. disabilities!!!
So with all that being said, I’ve never had a hotel experience this bad! I’ve never written a review ..
So the morning when we was checking out, the only compensation they offered because I asked was 7500 points husband‘s Marriott account which he’s Not received.
And yes, I have called and I have emailed no answer on the phone and no response through the email.
But on a positive note, I will say the lobby was nice. The bar was nice the both of the gentleman there were very nice. The breakfast was mediocre. But there is restaurant nexts door, very good
And the second room was better than the first room. The bed was comfortable. I did have a problem though locking that door to the little balcony
And it was in walking distance to a lot of stuff,...
Read moreThe room was nice, although we at first were put in a room with two beds rather than one, so then had to move the next morning, which was a mild irritation. Both rooms were nice though, although the second, being higher, had a much better view. The beds were very comfy, even the smaller ones in the previous room, and the shower was very nice too, which is important in my eyes. They also provided a good amount of complimentary toiletries in a dispenser so you don't have to bring your own if you don't want to. The hotel was very easy to get to once we realised we were in Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott New York Manhattan/Times Square South, and not just Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott New York Manhattan/Times Square South...perhaps a better naming convention could be used? But then I suppose they wouldn't get people looking to be right on Times Square (which this isn't), so I do understand. A bit misleading though. It is very well connected as the Penn Station metro stop is only a few minutes away and connects to most areas in the city. The staff were all very polite and amenable, and friendly, although we didn't have much interaction with them. The breakfast wasn't the best, and was a little disappointing to be honest. I never expect an included breakfast to be great, but it wasn't even good. We planned to eat out a lot of mornings anyway as trying the local cuisine is always nice to do in a new city, but it would've been nice to have the option of a nice breakfast. The cereal was alright (a bit sweet for British tastes) and there was a good variety of toppers for it, but the rest - especially the cooked - was pretty poor. The option of fruit other than oranges and one banana between 20 would have been nice. The cutlery was also all plastic, and the plates paper, which made you feel a bit like you were at a 6-year-old's birthday party, along with being pretty environmentally unfriendly. I did ask for the adult versions, but was told they weren't allowed at breakfast. I've never been to a hotel breakfast anywhere else in the world that serves like this, but to be fair, this was my first experience in the US. Maybe it's like this everywhere there. The complimentary drink between 5-6 was a nice surprise, but giving you half a small plastic cup did seem a little stingy. Either serve people properly (at least a small glass of wine or half a pint of beer, which probably wasn't much more than the volume they served) or not at all would be my suggestion, otherwise you risk disappointing. Even serving people in actual glasses so they felt like adults would...
Read moreDisappointing Experience with Inadequate AC and False Promises I recently had the displeasure of staying at SpringHill Suites, and my experience was nothing short of a nightmare. From the moment I arrived, it became apparent that this hotel did not live up to its reputation. The most prominent issue was the malfunctioning air conditioning system, which failed to cool down my room despite multiple attempts to rectify the situation.
Upon check-in, I was greeted by the suffocating heat in my room. The air conditioning unit seemed to be struggling, blowing warm air instead of the refreshing coolness I desperately desired. I immediately contacted the front desk to report the issue and requested maintenance assistance. After waiting for what felt like an eternity, a technician finally arrived, only to provide a temporary fix that didn't last long.
To my dismay, the AC started acting up again shortly after the technician left. Once more, I called the front desk and requested a second visit from the maintenance team. This time, they arrived promptly, but their efforts were futile. They tinkered with the AC for a while, assuring me that everything was fixed and I would soon enjoy a comfortable atmosphere. Regrettably, that was far from the truth.
In addition to the unbearable heat, another aspect that left a bitter taste in my mouth was the false promise of receiving Marriott points as compensation for the inconveniences caused. The hotel staff assured me that they would credit my account with the points, offering a gesture of goodwill for the subpar experience. However, despite their assurance, I never received those points, adding insult to injury. It's disheartening when a hotel fails to fulfill its commitments and leaves guests feeling deceived.
To make matters worse, the overall attitude of the staff was lackluster. They appeared indifferent to my grievances and displayed a clear lack of empathy for the discomfort I endured. Their dismissive approach and failure to address the issues adequately only compounded my frustration.
Considering the abysmal state of the air conditioning system, the unfulfilled promises of compensation, and the apathetic response from the staff, I cannot, in good conscience, recommend SpringHill Suites to anyone seeking a pleasant stay. The inability to provide a basic amenity like a functioning AC unit is simply unacceptable in a supposedly reputable establishment. Save yourself the disappointment and seek...
