Never ever again! Absolutely not worth the money. Went there in summer and was shocked that this place has any good reviews at all. The waiter (blond woman) was very unprofessional and kept running away (to deal with other clients) whilst taking my order. So I had to repeat my order 3 times to her as she kept forgetting what I wanted. When I finally got my food (herring and potato dumplings) she forgot to bring me any cutlery. For around 10mins I was trying to get any waiter's attention just to get the cutlery and finally start eating (as by that point I was already starving). Same waiter eventually came over, apologized and disappeared. I assumed she went to bring me the cutlery but instead she went to serve other people. Another 10mins later I managed to get her attention again and she got upset that someone else still did not bring me the cutlery (apparently she told one of her colleagues to bring me the cutlery) so finally 20mins later I got the fork and a knife and could finally start eating! Except I didn't as food was horrible! Herring was super oily and didn't taste very fresh so I tried one piece and left it as I was scared I will get food poisoned. The dumplings were obviously already cold and were all glued to each other. Apart from that there was so much black pepper in the potato filling that you could barely taste anything apart from the black pepper. Being Russian myself and making those dishes at home I can say 100% this was the worst herring and dumplings I have ever had in my life. When I asked the waitress to bring me the bill she noticed that I barely touched my food and asked me whether I wanted to take it with me. I said no as I didn't like it. When she asked me what exactly I didn't like I told her that dumplings were cold, glued to each other and not nice she replied with:" Why didn't you say something? We could have warmed them up for you" Seriously??? What kind of restaurant offers to warm something up (especially dumplings!) instead of apologizing and bringing a new (freshly prepared!) dish. Then she asked me whether at least I wanted to take the herring with me, I said no as I didn't like it either. So she walked away and brought me a bill (over 30$) for something I didn't even eat and not only that she didn't give me a discount, she didn't even apologize and brought a pen for me to write the amount of tips I would like to pay. I am usually very generous with the tips but this was the only place during my whole time in NY that I left no tips at all. This place has horrible customer service and bad food (at least the dishes that I had). Do not waste your...
Read moreI celebrated my birthday at Tatiana’s last night and had one of my most favorite nights of my life. Aksana, was so helpful with making the reservation, explaining how things worked and giving us a table with a perfect view of the show, plus offering a cake once she found out it was my birthday. She was great.
It was 12 people, banquet style dining, seated right next to the stage. First of all, the vibe of Tatiana’s is incredible. The gold and white decor fits it perfectly. The food was SO good and did not stop coming! My whole party was stoked by the variety of what came out and were saying “oh, new favorite of the night” with each new round. I’m not even sure what the name of my favorite was, but it was an appetizer that is hot and sort of like a savory pastry. We also got the unlimited alcohol package and Tatiana’s truly kept the vodka and cranberry juice flowing until the end of the night without even being asked—so obviously we were in GREAT spirits. While we ate and drank, 3 singers performed English and Russian classics on stage. They were each incredible, amazing voices. The perfect soundtrack to a dinner and so entertaining that some people in my party thought they alone were the full show. BUT, they weren’t, the show starts and it was non-stop fun the whole time. The dancers are so talented, the stage setup is cool, they really go all out with costumes and decor. They call it a Slavic-Vegas show and they’re right! I had more fun watching that show than some things I’ve seen on Broadway lol We all were like “wow I could’ve watched a whole nother hour of them”, it was so good.
The cake with sparkler moment on stage was CUTE.
After dinner, we all took to the dance floor and danced until we were totally soaked in sweet. The three singers from the beginning sing back to back hits and again are SO good. Again they do English songs (even the black eyed peas) and Russian songs and we danced all night to both. We made friends with other people on the dance floor. It wasn’t super crowded so it felt like being VIP in a nightclub or something. Incredible!
Dessert? Also great!
After we danced until our feet were forming blisters, we went out to put them in the ocean, then walked further and did the bumper cars at Coney Island.
We all want to, in the words of the black eyed peas, do it and do it and do it do it do it again.
Oh, and we found out about this spot because of Anora, so shout out to Sean Baker...
Read moreTatiana Restaurant has hit the all time low. I’ve been coming to this place throughout the years, it was never a spot where you’d expect fine dining and Michelin star delicacies but you could find decent fare and cold wine along with a Boardwalk view.
We visited yesterday and I can confirm that ALL FOOD we ordered was trash with each item costing above $20, well above. Cold fish cuts platter was bland, with lox (that they probably salt themselves) being especially disastrous. Khachapuri is usually impossible to spoil but I don’t recommend getting it there. Boiled beef tongue is bland like the chef is too disgusted to even taste his food for salt.
The only thing that I actually liked were marinated mushrooms from the Soleniya platter and I bet it’s just because they buy those jarred😂 even korean morkovcha, the easiest to make (that I think they also make themselves) doesn’t taste right, like they didn’t give it enough time to marinate.
Fried calamaries were a calamity. I’m running out of synonyms for “disaster” here, bear with me. They were so obviously bad that the waitress offered a complimentary dessert to make up for them. Pan fried potatoes were the best out of this order, the herring was probably the cheapest they could find, too bony.
And what pissed me off the MOST was some bright red liquid in a plastic pitcher they serve as “kompot”. Kompot is traditionally made out of fruits and berries, the concoction they serve is nothing but Cool Aid, I couldn’t believe when I tried it but yes, it was berry Cool Aid!!!!!!!!!!! I was speechless.
At this point I was so disappointed, I lost my appetite. The owners should seriously consider changing whoever is in charge of the kitchen, unless, of course, this is the way they do business now.
It’s a shame to serve people that kind of food. Way too overpriced, disgusting food, meh service. I do not...
