Someone tell my why I'm 14 years late to The Brooklyn Sweet Spot? I've lived in the neighborhood for over 20 years and have walked by this spot countless times since they opened in 2010/1 thinking "I really need to check this place out". Finally, and better late than never, I went in. First off, you're met with the most amazing smell of freshly baked goodness. To the right, you'll see the happiest plants chilling on shelves and in the window...and right in front of you a case of really beautiful baked goods. The folks there, Kim and Bobby, were great (kudos to Bobby's kitted-out nameplate necklace), were clearly happy to be there...how could you not working in a place filled with plants and smelling like that. We tried their "bomb-ass carrot cake" (their name, not mine, but 100% worth the title). Super moist, not too sweet, and without question, the best I've had in the neighborhood, if not all of NYC. We also tried the sweet potato bread pudding with this beautiful rum drizzle. I could literally eat that every damn day. As we know, the next 4 years are gonna' be rough. Do yourself a favor and make this a regular stop. I promise it'll keep us all going until...
ย ย ย Read moreI have been to this bakery twice and I absolutely love it! The carrot cake is everything, the cupcakes are really good as well. The frosting is not overly sweet, grainy or dry at all. I have tried the white chocolate raspberry, and the red velvet cupcakes and I have no regret. I also tried the carrot cake, there is one cake with three flavor layer (vanilla, red velvet and chocolate) with cream cheese frosting that was everything! The goods are flavorful, fresh, and moist. I totally recommend this place to everyone. I am glad that there is a bakery in the community that is black owned and have quality taste and care. Customer service is wonderful and they answered all of my questions both times that I visited. I suggest going there as early as you can because they run out of pastries really fast. Weekends are their busiest days, so make sure you get there before the shelves are empty!
The only thing that I recommend is that the cupcakes are placed in boxes instead of...

The BSS shop selections are tasty looking. I just wish the sweets were all labeled because the associate seemed bothered by us asking what the items were. I worked in customer service experiences for over 20 years. If the associate had worked by engaging us, the customers (while nobody was in the shop), she could have gotten us to buy 2 or more of everything. We're a big foodie & sweet treat couple. I thought we would've gotten a better experience since the owners' Instagram page reel/post are fun, upbeat, and inviting. He loves the lemon coconut cake slice, and we both loved...
