This place is pathetic, I went to see the Hockey game last Saturday, my husband and my friends had arrived first and already had a table, I arrived an hour later and when I got to the door the manager/assistant/or a simple idiot who works there, (I honestly don't know), he just didn't let me in because he said that the place was already full, and that I had to wait in line to get in (a line of at least 30 people) I explained to him, that my husband was inside and I already had my seat, my husband approached to try to talk to him and the man was extremely rude, disrespectful, and did not let me pass, and it was not just that, then the idiot told my husband that If he wanted to come out to be with me outside while I stood in line, he couldn't he come back in? Really? Can he really be such an idiot in life? well yes! Here in this pathetic bar there works one and maybe more than one! So I don't recommend it, because they don't treat customers with respect, I don't mind having to wait in line, what bothered me was the disrespectful way they spoke to me! Obviously, I left, I'm not going to give my money to...
Read moreI popped into The Canuck tonight, eh, and it was an absolute beauty of an experience! Right from the get-go, the place had that cozy, friendly vibe we Canadians are so proud of—like stepping into your best buddy’s living room, but with way better drinks.
Now, let’s talk about Kevin, the bartender. What a legend, eh? This guy is the Wayne Gretzky of mixing drinks! I ordered a Shirley Temple, and no word of a lie, it was the most perfectly balanced Shirley Temple I’ve ever had. He put so much care into making it, you’d think he was crafting maple syrup in his spare time.
What really stood out, though, was Kevin’s top-notch hospitality. He was as friendly as a neighbour shoveling your driveway after a snowstorm, and you could tell he genuinely loves what he does. The attention to detail, the warm smiles, and the “you’re part of the family” energy made the whole visit feel like a true Canadian experience.
If you’re looking for a bar that serves up stellar service and good vibes as strong as a double-double, The Canuck is the spot for you. I’ll be back for sure—maybe I’ll even order a Caesar next time,...
Read moreCame here for the Leafs game 7 vs Florida and was doubly disappointed, not just with the terrible on ice showing but with NYC’s seemingly only Canadian bar.
The staff was straight up rude- for some reason despite everyone being at the bar for the game, they only switched the channel to the game 10 minutes before puck drop. I saw multiple people ask for them to switch the channel but they refused multiple times. Weirdly non-Canadian, and I was able to spy everyone in the bar singing the anthem with gusto, everyone that is except for basically all of the staff. Odd.
The sad excuse for poutine that is served here is an affront to our national pride. The gravy is a sickly beige colour.
Better marks for atmosphere and decor, which is great. This place seems like it may have been better years ago but has fallen off, perhaps due to a total lack of competition in the city. I hope that changes because it would be better for everyone.
Extra star for Mike Meyers, who was spotted at the bar enduring the game, which is why this place gets two stars...
