I was shopping at Housing Works, and all of a sudden, I had to get to a bathroom FAST, looked across the street, saw a sign that said "Burger and Beer $12 Dollars"! So naturally, this had to be the the perfect place to go... And it was!
I sat at the bar and whilst making the order, the (Irish) bartender Liam, told me the choices of sauteed onions, tomatoes, lettuce, etc. and that it came with an order of fries! I chose the Globe's awesome, full-bodied, dark, ale! The burger was one of the best I have ever had!
Liam, the Irish bartender is an awesome guy, can carry on a few conversations simultaneously, and never miss a beat on each conversation, whilst giving all his customers undivided attention! Liam's quite a conversationalist with his knowledge-of-many-things, smooth-manner and superb service! To add, there are a few awesome locals and one in particular, Richard The "Mayor" of 23rd Street!
I had an awesome time and felt that ever so rare, at-home feeling at The Globe! Make it a stop, as it's one of New York City's few, true, bars left around! The Globe's burgers are literally better than the Shake Shack... and I am not knocking Shake Shack...
Whether you're a born-n-bred New Yorker, or tourist - The Globe's is the perfect place to get a taste and feel of...
Read moreDO NOT GO TO THIS BAR! My friends and I went to this bar last night and first of all it was dead. We only went because it was near the place we had dinner and we had time to kill. Normally I order a vodka soda, but the waitress said the cocktails are good so I took her advice and ordered a GLOBE BRAMBLE (DO NOT ORDER). When the drink came - I took one sip and tried not to throw up. It truly was the worst drink I had ever had and I passed it around to my friends and the verdict was it tasted like "toxic waste". So, I politely told the waitress it was not good at all and she took the drink and went and got the manager. The manager comes over to our group and abrasively begins to go off on me and tells me that I will be paying for the drink. She said their top bartender made it and when we tried to explain the situation she said "I don't want to hear it" and walked away. WOW! Talk about awful service and a place that is obviously desperate for money. We were in disbelief and quickly left. There are so many places in NYC, so please, take my advise and go anywhere else...
Read moreMy friend and I had our 23rd birthday party at The Globe last night in the side bar - it was such an amazing experience. I’ve always come to The Globe for everything ranging from happy hour to a late night drink, and I am now even more impressed with this place after having such a big event here! James made it very easy to plan and coordinate and was very flexible with us. He allowed us to make our own playlist, bring balloons and hang up decor, bring cupcakes and sparklers, etc. And he even offered for them to clean up at the end of the night for us! The whole evening, friends came up to let us know how much they loved the space and how great the drinks were. Everything from beer to cocktails is very reasonably priced and affordable and the bartenders were very friendly and focused. I can’t express how awesome this bar is! Definitely...
