what's old today might new tomorrow? don't get it? that's part of the intrinsic value of vintage items in a nutshell. Vintage Thrift Shop is where you can donate goods in good condition--tax deductible, too. the store is less focused on clothes (they do carry them) and most of the interior is filled with furniture decor items, jewelry, glassware, glasses frames, old books and magazines, and more. the merchandise is carefully curated, and items are in good condition. call before donating to make sure what you have is what they want/need. i forget which charity this raises money for...but slowing down rampant consumerism with items being reused is a good thing. staff are personable.

If I could rate this shop 10 stars, I would . I am visiting from FL and this is probably one of the few memorable spots I’ll remember . I know it’s just a shop but I honestly had a different experience and it almost felt like I was back in the day . From the wonderful music playing to all the variety of items on sale to the unique staff working there ; it was one of a kind . I even sat there for a good moment without interruption going through all the vintage photographs that people donate . I bought so many items and the prices were reasonable as well . The clerk even negotiated the price of one the items because of its condition. Without a doubt , I’d definitely stop by again!

I love this thrift store and make it a point to stop by every time I visit Manhattan. Every couple of months, I have an appointment at the NYU building of dentistry, and this a really close walk from there. Stopping at Vintage Thrift before I head home is part of my NYC ritual. I can always find something interesting here; wheather its a nice top, a scarf, some new plateware for the kitchen, a unique book or piece of art, I rarely ever leave empty-handed, and the prices always feel totally reasonable. Whoever curates the pieces that end up here, does a really wonderful job! I wish I could come here more often!

Consistently high quality, wicked great music (rare deep funk etc-music heads know!), friendly vibe, many unusual vintage clothes and art items, impressive houseware/kitchen assortment. Never mind the weird and fake old reviews, they don’t reflect reality and recent experiences there- and I’m a fair, tough critic who doesn’t play favorites.

Yes prices are slightly higher than other thrift shops but it reflects higher quality. Nothing is broken or stained like other thrift shops. I shop at many others in Manhattan and know what to compare it with. Hey, this isn’t a ratty Salvation Army!

I’ve seen vintage items go for the same online but weren’t as good quality and you have to wait to get it, pay shipping (+possibly handling), tax and having it mailed contributes to pollution by having it trucked to your home. Forget that, just support a local shop like this. Enjoy the tunes...
