The Rock — Restaurant in New York

I give them one star because their food is good although VERY salty. I have been there five times so far. I try to give new places time to get themselves together. It's never easy when you "just" open a new restaurant/business. So, last night i ordered pork shoulder with white rice and beans. Their beans are always great as is their white rice. It's always perfect. I tried their chicken noodle soup. Was great but again just too salty. Their waitresses are ALWAYS nice but they get lost once they serve you and all hang out by the buffet area. The tall guy by the counter gives people the stink eye for some reason. I have heard this from others. I believe he is also the one that makes deliveries on a bike. One day I asked for a half portion of one of their dishes. The guy by the counter was asked how much they should charge me. He said 10.00 and they said to him that was expensive because they actually had served me a half portion. He stood by his response while laughing throughput the whole process. The waitresses were not laughing and told him that it was not fair because the half portion they gave me was so small. They showed him the plate size they had used and he just laughed it off and walked away. Although, I hadn't asked for a discount I appreciate the waitresses trying to be fair. As for this guy I have heard he is always pretty much giving the stink eye to people that go to the restaurant...so much for a "Christian" restaurant.

Waitresses forget to bring you water all the time even when you first sit down. But again they are very nice. It is not their fault it is managements fault when people are not trained properly. Also the first three times I went I almost stood up and left because the Christian music was SO LOUD the waitress couldn't hear me and my dinner...

Firstly i really hate posting bad reviews, I only do so when it’s absolutely necessary, I also try NOT to get food here, their food used to be great now it's more expensive and they give you WAY less food, today I went in a rush with doing my daily errands, I hadn't had anything to eat so I go in, wasn't looking my best just ran out the house quickly with my sweats a hoodie and a hat. I was in and waited a while to be tended to although it wasn't busy, they continuously laughing at god knows what with the other young lady that had her face laughing in the utensils she was drying, the lady finally comes to serves me the food of my choice making faces and not really wanting to genuinely help, when I got to the counter I felt so uncomfortable that they kept looking at me and laughing, they thought I didn't understand Spanish because I ordered in English and definitely was at me because I was the Only one their, as a medical professional and wearing scrubs all day all you want is to relax in some regular comfy clothes. I swear I will NEVER return to this place EVEN IF INAM STARVING, I got home only to have a little bit of food with TWO tiny LITTLE pieces of plantain the tips or if for sure, this dish was $20 and had the minimum, so disrespectful, they pick and choose who to give good service to, judge you by your appearance and I had left them a tip, I will make sure my family and friends will not buy from them, although some already complained about it. I only went because it was close by and I was hungry, the restaurant on 101 avenue is 100 % better food and less salt and the people are more...

The people who work here are very nice, I will give them that but that is the only positive. I'm positive they make up prices on the spot when you're paying based on what the customer looks like. There was 4 of us but only 2 of us got like a real lunch (meat, rice and 1 side) and the other 2 only got a soup and a side and we all got a drink and it was $96 without tip, they rung everything up on the register under I can't remember the tern but it was the same name for every charge they where putting through which was suspicious to me. The rice was stale we had, I don't know if it was from the day before because we got here pretty early and the chicken I got was chewy, it all went in the garbage, my side was maduros and that was the only good thing which really you're a mess if you fukc that up too. I won't be going back here again especially with all the restaurant in the area that are actually good and way more affordable where I don't feel I'm being taken for a fool, it's been bothering me since we where here. I still can't believe what they charged us, and how terrible...
