Really man? Really? Based on reviews, aggression and rudeness weren't personal, just business as usual. Wish I'd have known before coming.
Saturday night, celebrating with an old friend i hadn't seen in a while. Accidentally bumped someone inside and after apologizing profusely, was refused service, put out, then told to come back in 20 minutes. Fair enough - we had a few drinks already and i accidentally bumped someone - no harm no foul, we'll just come back.
When we came back, my friend was paying admission when another bouncer came out and aggressively asked what we were doing back. He then motioned toward me and next thing i know, I'm on my back with 2 guys on me. Adrenaline was pumping - i don't recall how it happened. I must've stood my ground and said something they didn't like. Be that as it may, this unfolded so quickly i didn't even realize they were on top of me. They could've just refused us entry instead of pouncing on me, what the hell? Being half these guys' sizes, luckily no punches/hits were exchanged. I get up, my friend picks up a phone he thought was mine and we hurry away as two of these bouncers follow us for a bit. We got away, no one was hurt.
5 minutes later they call the phone my friend picked up, asking us to return it. OK, we dont know what the hell just happened but we're not taking what isn't ours. We get back to return the phone and these guys have the police waiting for us, arresting me for assault.
So we were assaulted by a gang of bouncers after which we retained the decency to return their missing item... and they call police and say we attacked them?
Still pretty dumbfounded by the whole situation. How do people like this sleep? I’ll fight this and be fine but NYC deserves to know about the utter lack of decency you guys have.
Smh, I pray for you all.
Tl;dr: Bouncers...
Read moreWish I could give this less than one star. Was excited to visit The Spaniard with friends after hearing such good things. Had the day off during the holidays and met friends there for lunch around 1:30, and was immediately greeted and sat in a booth. Vibes seemed great, and we were excited for a few cocktails and some food. Our server dropped off menus and must have forgotten about the table (though it wasn't very crowded compared to normal/evening hours) because he didn't stop back for almost 15 minutes. At this point I asked if we could please put in a drink order. Once placed (just a beer, two draft cocktails and a scotch cocktail) we did not see those drinks until they were dropped off by who I am assuming was the manager almost 25 minutes after that. The martinis spilled on the tray and then table once transferred by the manager and I had to go get napkins from the bar myself. Our server never checked back in, and after seeing two other tables get up and leave after not being greeted, we approached the server for the check and then had to give our cards to the manager after our server never came back to get them. I've worked as a server and FOH Manager for years and this was abysmal. I understand that COVID and staffing has wrecked the industry, but this was the worst experience. From the reviews it's clear that the evening seems to go much better, though I won't be back to find out. Avoid during lunch hours if you're looking to catch the place when...
Read moreWent the night of 2-24. I understand that it might not be fun dealing with drunk people all night as a bouncer, but the one that works inside here clearly is on a power-trip by the way he treats customers. It is perfectly reasonable to have a bouncer make sure people are not blocking the path for people to walk. It is unreasonable to tell people to move out of the way when they are against the wall (which was done to avoid blocking the bar for others to pass) and there is huge path for people to pass when it wasn't that crowded. The first time, I thought it was odd, but let it go. Later, I see this same bouncer bothering a couple for kissing in a separate room open to the public and I understand that he's just wants to bother people having a good night. To conclude, I am again against a wall on the side talking to my girlfriend and this guy again makes me move when there is nothing being blocked. I complain out-loud to my girlfriend that he won't leave people alone and he kicks me out. Never in life have I encountered somebody so power-hungry as a bouncer that he clearly enjoys bothering customers for no particular reason. It would greatly be appreciated if this was addressed by management as I'm sure this is not apart of the job description of an inside bouncer maintaining order. Besides the inside bouncer, the bar is a great place to spend a few hours on a...
