I have been coming to Village Cuts since it opened about 15 years ago. It is always such a pleasure to walk up the (steep rough-hewen 18th Century stone) steps and be welcomed back into what has kinda become 'my family.' Greg, the owner, is my and my best friend Connie's haircutter but the few times Greg has not been on the premises when I walk in, one of the other guys also does a superb job of making sure I walk down any street or avenue in the American Metropolis and turn heads. I have moved away from NYC in the past month but will continue to combine visits to the Metropolis with visits to this shop and its amazing hair cutters. THANK YOU GUYS, THANK YOU GREG AND ALL YOU VILLAGE CUTTERS, FOR ALL THE GREAT YEARS OF TOGETHERESS AND MAKING ME A MORE BEAUTIFUL AND CONFIDENT GUY!!! -- And then, let's not forget the DECEMBER HAIRCUT! At which the guys lay out vodka and other beverages to make sure everyone feels fantastic when they enter and leave the storefront at this most important moment in the year. Face it, ladies and gentlemen: life is short: death is long. You gotta make a good run of it and a good impression while you are here among the living, and coming to Village Cuts is one way--an essential way--you will always achieve that goal. Now may blessings and happiness devolve...
Read moreI have never in my life posted a review, but after todays experience i had to. I am a local and usually see Danny, and always have a great experience with him. Once a few months ago i had a new guy who was having phone conversations with his airpods in during and cut my hair wrong. Overall it still looked O.K.— fine and he was cool. But today, i came in and had another new guy, and he was extremely aggressive & unfriendly, banged the clippers against my head with each buzz stroke, was death GRIPPING my skull and shoulders to reposition me, was not gentle with the razor cleaning of the back of my neck, and never gave me any heads up when something abrupt was about to happen or he needed to instruct me or have me reposition. at one point i asked him to adjust the cut on the top, & he replied “HUH??” to which i repeated what i wanted, though i verbalized and articulated very clearly. It seemed as if he was in a hurry through the whole cut and didn’t really engage me at all. I thought this was an open and accepting friendly barber establishment but this was the worst most uncomfortable haircut experience i’ve ever...
Read moreI was absolutely butchered. To be honest I was processing how horrible of a haircut I received. I specifically told him not to cut it short and he cuts it so short I can’t even run my fingers through my own hair. Don’t get me started with the beard. I genuinely think he isn’t a barber because it was just sos bad. Horrible rookie mistakes he made. He “ trimmed” my beard so bad there’s barely anything left. I asked for a fade beard instead he faded all of it which is so dumb. And trimmed it all down. Worst part of it all he cut my neck like so now it’s impossible to fix. How does one cut the neck line so short. THAT IS THE ONE THING YOUR not supposed to with beards. Truly an amateur place. I thought this place was good but it was sooooooooooo bad I’ll never come back and I hope people see this message so they won’t either. At least own up to your mistake. God what an amateur haircut. everyone i know completely agreed that my “haircut” was so bad. They actually thought I cut my own hair. I’d give it 0...
