Iâm not one to write negative reviews, but dang did this dining experience warrant it. TL;DR: incredibly rude & disrespectful staff and awfullll wait time for food and drinks.
Honestly one of the worst restaurant experiences Iâve ever had. Not only was the staff rude (weâll get to it), but when we tried to talk to them about it they doubled down on their behavior and continued to be rude. Iâd walked by this place so many times and was so exited to try... left thoroughly disappointed.
Facts: We called ahead to let them know weâd be 10 mins late. Our open table reservation said the Warren had a 15 min courtesy window but we still wanted to call ahead to be respectful patrons. Upon arrival, 9 mins late, they told us unapologetically theyâd given away our table away because we were late... despite them saying on the phone that itâd be fine.
While waiting in the doorway to talk to the hostess, she aggressively told our party that âyouâre in the way and Iâm the hostess.â She was incredibly abrasive and honestly we shouldâve just taken the hint and left then.
After finally getting a table, we waited 15+ mins before our drink orders were taken and another 15 mins until our drinks arrived.
We ordered food and an hour and a half after arriving still hadnât gotten our food. I went in to find our waitress and check on the food and couldnât find her. I asked the hostess and she said âwell obviously weâre really busy right now so itâs going to take a while.â
As our food got there, we asked for a side of mayo with our burger and fries and the hostess said itâd be an extra $1... despite waiting so long for our food and her abhorrent behavior.
Usually Iâd expect that after 90 mins of waiting for mediocre food weâd at least have an app or our drinks compd but instead 20% gratuity was included. Like WHAT! Perhaps the included gratuity made the staff feel comfortable treating us so poorly because with this level of service I wouldâve left 10% max. We were shocked to see the 20% tip included for a party of 5 (never seen it for fewer than 6 people), but apparently itâs a restaurant policy so diners beware!! And there was a $6 credit card processing fee.... for over $200? Okay. Our total came out to $275 for drinks + food for the absolute worst NYC dining experience...
Read moreI've rolled into the Warren on several occasions, most often to the bar, which has a CHEERS-like local feel for sure. The vibe is dark and sultry which I really like...post sunset, there's a candle-lit room atmosphere that makes everyone look great, so perfect for a date (see below). There's also a patio in front for warm weather get togethers. The bartenders are super friendly and even on the busiest of afternoons and evenings, manage to keep their patrons plied with beer & booze. The food is consistently good whether it's just apps or full-on foodie worthy.
A (male) friend was visiting over Valentine's Day and we booked a table for two. Interestingly and quite obviously (and surprisingly) we seemed to be the ONLY gay men in the joint that night. We're talking ground zero for the Tribe - Christopher and Hudson! Regardless, the evening was good fun with the exception of the dungeon dining downstairs. I would not choose that space again. It was hot and being someone who rarely thinks about an escape route, I couldn't stop thinking..."if there's a fire, we're f&&ked!" I'm sure there's another exit but if it's only the steep staircase I was challenged at 6' 3" to traverse, I'd be nervous.
So, choose the bar or a table/banquette on the main level. There's also, IIRC, only one bathroom for the joint, so the minute you think you need to tinkle, queue up for bladder release.
Brunch - YES, Dinner - YES, Drinks + Apps, YES YES. Location is easy breezy, right next to the Path Station at Christopher, a couple blocks from the 1 on 7th/Christopher. Try the Warren, you'll enjoy...
Read moreI made a reservation for 6 for 8:30pm for indoor dining for 12/15 over a week prior on onetable and after confirming with Warren automated system on thrusday 12/14 I got a call from the restaurant asking if I wouldn't mind switching my reservation to their outdoor dining/patio dining at 8:30pm, because they were overbooked and I refused stating my reservation was ⴠfor indoor dining. The reservation person then asked could we eat at 8:45pm, indoor and I said ok. We got there at 8:20 and was told our table would be ready 8:45; so we waited outside on the street and 8:45 went by no drinks were offered, then 9,we asked and was told our table were paying the check then 9:15 came and went. No hostess for 10 minutes at this point; we we're done. A very nice waitress came over, with a line of patrons, behind us and we told her to cancel our reservation. I'm a New York foodie that eating out for over 25 years and I've never experienced such poor customer service at any restaurant in NYC; this restaurant just don't care about it customers and doesn't want repeat business. It's a symptom of what's wrong with with NYC food scene just about hype and quick money. We can't even leave a negative review on open table because we never ate at the restaurant that how cynical these restaurants are in not caring about basic customer service and the sad part is most of their patron are ok with this level of treatment and only care about eating there.
We found a nice restaurants to have dinner at 9:30 without all the pretentiousness and had a...
