Words cannot express how much I love this place. If I lived near this place I might never eat anywhere else again - although I do really love halal food.
I have had the pleasure of having some of the greatest Mexican food available in the United States. I found out I was gluten intolerant 5 years ago so this became a staple of my diet. I also have a love of spicy food - I'm talking extra spicy. I make the guys at halal food stands look at me like I'm nuts when I have them pour an insane amount of hot sauce all over my veggies & rice.
First, the service is amazing. They were so sweet & you are immediately offered homemade corn tortilla chips & some of the freshest salsa I have ever had. Do yourself a favor and try the spicy salsa too if you like that.
I have to say my favorite part is the homemade corn tortillas - you know, the ones that they make from scratch and cook to order. I had a veggie quesadilla for $4. I ordered two not realizing that these are INSANELY huge. I could only eat one although it was so amazing I really wanted to eat the other one. Self control & an overloaded stomach finally forced me to take the other one home for dinner. The corn tortilla (before folded) is the size of a normal dinner plate. Awesome.
Also, they use queso fresco. I hope that you Mexican food lovers out there are as excited by that sentence as I was. They have both raw & pickled jalapenos - score! They have a few other types of salsa & of course salsa verde is available and delicious.I had the horchata which was awesome. Sometimes horchata can be too sweet or thick & syrupy. This was nice & light with just the right amount of sweetness. This is also homemade.
My only sadness is that I was so insanely full from the chips & quesadilla that I couldn't order flan. I am a bit of a flan connoisseur and I wasn't feeling like after all that cheese I should eat dessert for a few days. I cannot wait to go back and try it though. I'm sure it's heavenly.
OK, if you are still reading this and have not started to venture to Tulcimex then we are not friends...or you just hate great...
Read moreWe've been customers of Tulcimex, but not anymore. I've never had such bad customer service from a restaurant before.
Ordered a Mole Poblano with a side of Tortillas and Rice/Beans, but we received no rice/beans in our order. We called the restaurant to resolve the issue and let them know, but the lady on the phone was incredibly defensive and kept telling me "I put them in the bag, check again, I remember putting it in the bag." You think I didn't check? When I told her it wasn't there, she just kept saying that she put it in the bag. Eventually, I asked her, "Are you saying I'm lying?" and she said, "Yes." My wife also went on the phone but she just kept saying she remembered putting it in the bag.
How can you treat customers that way? If a customer says something was not in the order, you respect what they're saying and you do your best to fix the issue. Sorry Tulcimex, but you're losing our business. If you fail at customer service with such a basic issue, I can't imagine what else you're doing wrong with...
Read moreTerrible service. Starting with the cashier named Estefani, I called initially to request a delivery, without more or less, without any kind of cordiality put me on hold for 12 MINUTES, at no time took my order. I had to hang up and call again, she never offered me an apology and She definitely was ready to put me on hold again because "She had to bring a plate" I had to mention to her that she had left me waiting for quite some time and that Taking my order to delivery would not take long. In a really bad mood and attitude she take my order, and again she leaves on hold when I asked the size / capacity of the small lemonade. Finally I was able to place my order. 30 minutes later the delivery was here, only to realize that IT WAS INCOMPLETE !!!! They had not sent my lemonade, even though I constantly told the cashier what I was ordering. I was very disappointed to see that this restaurant does not have the minimum cordiality of sending chips with the guacamole I was ordering. In any other Mexican restaurant, for minimum courtesy when buying guacamole they send you chips, in fact they even wanted to charge me extra for the chips. Long story short, what a disappointment, first and last time I try to consume from this restaurant.

Terrible servicio.
