Gosh, where to begin?
Between Joe's and John's and Bleecker Street Pizza and Artichoke concentrated within a few blocks of the West Village, it's clear that this neighborhood is a pizza hot spot. What's unclear to me is why Two Boots isn't talked about more.
First, let's get some COVID stuff out of the way. This is the only spot where I have seen staff wear masks correctly and consistently, while also politely asking people to leave their contract tracing info if they're dining inside. Hand sanitizer is available.
Let's move on to decor. It's clear that actual thought was put into making this place visually interesting and informative, and you can read about the history and inspirations for the concept while you wait.
Let's talk music! So lovely to hear eclectic music while I'm waiting for my food, and I find myself bouncing on my feet more often than not.
Let's talk staff! How often do workers fall into the background, but Two Boots hires friendly, sparkling, engaging folk who make you feel welcome... sometimes at spots I feel like I'm intruding when I want to make an order, but not here.
Finally, let's talk pizza! I've always said to myself I should try a plain slice one of these days to leave a comprehensive review, but why would I? There are always vegan options available, meat options, and vegetarian options, and other special slices available on a rotating daily basis- shout out here to the Animal Collective, available Thursdays, which is a white veggie pie with a touch of cayenne pepper, which tingles pleasantly without being burny. Flavor is a priority across the board, and I've never been unhappy with anything here. Crusts are nice and crispy. The Grandma Bess is one of the best grandma slices you can find.
In short, check it out! This is one of my favorite spots in Manhattan, and I can't imagine why it isn't busy all the time. For their sake, I hope this changes... but for my own sake, I selfishly hope it stays as quiet as it is so I never...
Read moreThis review is not about the pizza itself ( because the pizza is amazing), but about this specific location and service. I ended up getting two boots anyways that same night because I love their pizza. I just went to the East Village one instead. I got into the restaurant, they only had 3 types of pizzas (all vegan). I asked the lady there if anything else was coming up and she said Yes but that she didn't know what". So I asked her, " Can you please ask?" and she said " It doesn't matter what comes out, it will be over 40 min anyways because deliveries are taken care first". So, I said " Can you still ask anyways?" I mean , I was willing to wait if the ones I like where coming out in 40 mins, thats how much I like their pizza. She went and came back 10 seconds later saying " its all cheese but again, it doesn't matter because deliveries are going out first" So basically it was either you buy what we have on display or get cheese one in 40 min, unless a delivery calls ,.then you keep waiting I live close to two hours from NYC, and when I go I get two boots. It used to be an every weekend thing before the spot on 96th/Broadway closed. This was my first time in this location and last. I really love two boots pizza but service is also an important part of coming back here. Im glad the one in the East Village is still there, with way better services and know their market better to maintain a larger variety of pizzas available. Also, emphasizing that deliveries are more important than a paying customer right in front of you, is not a good...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Two Boots West Village, and it was a delightful experience from start to finish. The restaurant's cozy and vibrant atmosphere immediately sets the mood for a memorable meal. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, making us feel right at home.
Now, let's talk about the food - it was simply outstanding! Two Boots' unique fusion of Cajun and Italian flavors creates a mouthwatering menu that caters to all tastes. Their pizzas are a true masterpiece, with creative toppings that burst with flavor. I highly recommend trying the V for Vegan pizza if you're into plant-based options or the Bayou Beast for a spicy kick.
What sets Two Boots apart is not just the delicious food but also their commitment to using fresh and high-quality ingredients. It's evident that they put a lot of care and thought into each dish.
Overall, Two Boots West Village is a must-visit for anyone in search of a fantastic dining experience in the heart of New York City. Whether you're a local or a tourist, you won't be disappointed by the welcoming atmosphere and the unforgettable flavors this restaurant...
