Haar & Co. Barbershop — Local services in New York

For starters, I'm not a "review guy". I'm not sure if I've ever written a Google review before. That said, my experience at Haar & Co was so amazing I felt compelled to go outside my comfort zone to share this gem with the world. Quite frankly, nothing I write will ever do Haar & Co the justice it deserves... you have to check it out for yourself!

Michael created something classy and unique, paying homage to the authentic barbershop experience. There are very few , if any, shops like his. What I'm talking about is true craftsman clicking scissors with calm smooth precision. Expert barbers who exude a passion about process, all of whom are dressed in crisp white jackets. The smell of fresh talc in the air, fantastic ambiance music and spirited banter you'd only expect at gentleman's barber shop. The space at Haar & Co is bright, pristine and energized... so perfect it actually looks like it leaped off the pages of a GQ photo shoot.

I know my strong endorsements sounds like a pitch, but I assure you... it's not. I'm just a customer who was blown away by an experience. That experience turned me into an advocate and a customer for life!

This is the best barbershop in the city. A gift card from here is one of the best presents you can give a gentleman in your life. Aside from the relaxing hot towel shaves they’re most known for, they do classic, natural cuts that grow out nicely between appointments, so it’s great for anyone with short cropped hair. They also sell a bunch of Proraso products you won’t find anywhere, including fantastic gift sets. I pop by their shop to get fancy toothpaste and my HG cream pomade, but I always end up browsing for like 20 minutes and getting 3 other things because they’re always bringing in new and interesting products. I also highly recommend the sensitive skin proraso cream in the white tube for ladies. Michael Haar is a master of his craft. He’s cut my hair for three years now, and I hope he always will. Michael provides a superior service with flair and personality. I’ve never had a bad haircut in his chair nor a bad experience in his shop.

The shop is as impeccable as the service. As soon as you walk in, you’ll get an immediate sense of Michael’s high standard of taste. It’s a beautiful space where great music is always playing and seasonal decorations foster a sense of celebration. The staff is friendly and helpful, and I find the customary offer of espresso an inspired touch.
