DO NOT COME HERE. It's a scam--my friends and I were double charged. The man working there swiped our cards and then told us they didn't work and asked that we pay in cash. My friend immediately noticed that there was a pending transaction in her online banking. She was suspicious but gave the benefit of the doubt that it wouldn't go through. A few days later there was a completed charge on all of our cards from when he swiped them. We all were SCAMMED.
Also, don't believe the ratings you see online. They have a deal where you can get a free pizza if you show them a 5-star review. All they're doing is luring people in with reviews that they bribed people into, and then scamming people by double charging.
On top of all of that, the pizza was one of the worst I've ever had. There are greasy pizzas, and then there's Uncle Sam's pizza. There was so much grease you could drink it with a straw. It hits your stomach like a brick. There are easily many better options even within a block or two. If you're in the area and want pizza, look at Biga Bite, Square Pizza, or Rivington Pizza. Anything other than this place.
Also, this is very minor compared to the other issues, but if you're one to care about this, the person who was working there was not...
Read moreUncle Sam's is a small new-ish pizzeria on Clinton Street. it is a neighborhood spot, not really a destination pizza place as it is not a sit-down place, but perfect for delivery and takeout. there are some raised ledges to stand by and eat. there's a small table outside if you want to brave the weather. everything looks clean and brightly lit inside. the menu has a small variety of pizzas as well as calzones, garlic knots, onions rings, chicken wings, and more. soft drinks only.
stopped by Uncle Sam's Pizza recently, i ordered a spicy pepperoni square and a cheese slice to go. i would the square slice was solidly okay/good--the crust was a bit too soft for me as i like it thinner and crunchier. the pepperoni was cooked perfectly. the cheese slice is the clear winner at Uncle Sam's. the slice: good size; the cheese was stretchy melty good; sauce was sweet, salty, and tiny bit spicy; and the crust was thin (yet not too thin) to have crunch and still have some soft give to it. the cheese slice did not disappoint as classic NYC pizza. slices range in price from $3-$5. pies $22-$30

Read moreLast week, I visited this establishment for a few slices, and unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing.
First, there were serious hygiene concerns. None of the staff were wearing hats or gloves, and overall cleanliness appeared to be nonexistent.
Second, it seems the place has changed ownership. There is no visible management, and it feels like no one cares about the business anymore. Just two years ago, this used to be one of the best pizza shops in the Lower East Side, so it’s sad to see the drastic decline in quality and care. The young man claiming to be the owner also had difficulty communicating effectively, which made the situation even more frustrating.
Most importantly, during my visit, I witnessed a violent altercation between two employees—an older man and another worker. Shockingly, the older man grabbed a knife and attempted to attack the other employee. This is extremely dangerous and unacceptable.
For your safety, I strongly recommend...
