Union Sushi — Restaurant in New York

Ordered for Mother's Day and order was ready within 90 minutes (5/5) . Pick up was quick and was able to pay by credit card (our usual place is cash only) (5/5). The place had very good reviews so was looking forward to trying a new place.

Initially thought the value was good vs portions, lots of pieces in the platter. My opinion changed quickly after tasting the sushi. The tuna had a strong fishy smell and was noticeably darker than what we normally see. The other fish pieces didn't look fresh and the salmon also had a fishy taste, although not as strong as the tuna though. It was a disappointing Mother's Day lunch for the family. We ended up eating the rolls and throwing away more than 2/3 of the party platter. (1/5)

Maybe it was an off day for them due to higher traffic, but sushi freshness/quality should be the #1 focus regardless. Unfortunately, I don't think we're going to order...

I ordered a medium-sized sushi and roll party platter for takeout, which cost $67 with a cash discount. The food was ready in 20 minutes, just as they promised.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The packaging was excellent and secure, ensuring nothing spilled. Although the platter is intended for three people, they kindly gave me an extra miso soup upon request, mentioning I could have as many as I wanted.

However, I was not particularly impressed with the quality of the food; it didn't taste exceptionally fresh or delicious. I also noticed the restaurant's sign has changed from what it used to be, which made me wonder if the ownership has changed.

Honestly, based on the taste alone, I find it hard to understand the high 4.8 rating. It was a bit disappointing, and I don't think I'll be ordering...

Great little spot! A Dimond in the rough here. Walk in, and 2 things right off the bat will impress you. The place is very clean, and the smell is of fresh sushi. There Alot of so-called sushi restaurants that may mask the sushi smells or just not try and come off of bad fish. This shop is not one to mask anything they are doing a great job of keeping the food fresh on a daily 😀 basis. Based on smell and cleanliness alone, they get 5 stars! The lemonade is made fresh and squeezed right in front of you, but ... yes, there's a small, but here, ask for extra sugar. You will thank me later. I'll be going back...
