Winnie Said — Restaurant in New York

I am not happy to write this review, this place has a ton of potential. The food was great, cocktails fantastic, prices pretty reasonable especially draft beers.

The service needs a lot of work. Something is wrong with their system. Our server came and took drink orders, and said she’d be back in a few minutes to take food orders. We didn’t see her for another 45 minutes. We had to flag someone down to order 15 minutes in, he said he’d get someone, and no one came. This was a bit of a theme. Two drinks I ordered never came, and when we asked for the check, it once again didn’t come. The second time we asked for it we got it, and then after we paid our server came and asked if we needed any drinks. There’s a communication issue. Our server was incredibly nice and did come to our table, but it was just too far and few between.

We really want to love this place, vibe is great, food is great, and so we will come back and if this was just a one-off issue I will revise my review accordingly.

Edit: Since writing this review I have visited twice and the service has improved both times, leading me to believe that our first experience was more likely growing pains of a new restaurant than a long-term issue of the restaurant. Glad to have it in the neighborhood, great food and great vibe. They have some restaurant behaviors that frustrate me, like charging $2 for a side of a sauce, but at this point in New York it’s unavoidable. If money was no object, I would go to Winnie said...

This spot is super inconsistent. The food cool, but the staff is insincere and inconsistent. I have gone a few times and I have watched how they will smile up in certain customers faces and blow off others. I have seen them bee kind one day then dismissive to the same customer the next. Please note even for a NYE the pace wasn't crazy packed. It was busy, but a good flow busy. And because it is a neighborhood bar people are very patient and chill when it comes to ordering drinks being that it's only one - two bars tenders. This review is coming from NYE night but I have gone for the past few months trying to get a gauge on the place. I would not recommend but hey, one never knows until you try. I recently visited for the first time, and it turned out to be a fantastic experience—thanks in large part to our amazing waitress, Grace. I stopped by on a whim to arrange a last-minute gathering with a few friends, and Grace not only showed me a perfect back area that had just the right vibe, but also assured me they could handle everything smoothly.

When we arrived, some of my friends got there before me, and Grace had already accommodated them in the area we discussed. The whole night was seamless, and the karaoke turned out to be such a fun bonus. Grace’s warm and attentive service put me at ease, and she truly made my birthday celebration memorable.
