I ordered Tejas BBQ from Wonder via GrubHub and posted this same review on the GH forum. While I can only speak for the BBQ right now, I will definitely be checking out their other offerings soon!
I'm not sure why the negative reviews. I actually chose not to place an order from here multiple times because of some of the lackluster reviews. Boy, am I glad I finally ignored them and ordered anyway. This is the best BBQ in the delivery area by far!
The brisket is moist (NOT fatty as many people claim - if you want super lean, dry, chewy beef, you shouldn't order brisket, in my opinion).
The coleslaw is crisp and flavorful (could use a bit more dressing, but that's just personal preference).
The beans are tasty (I stirred a little BBQ sauce and chopped onions into them bc I prefer my beans a bit more complex).
The cornbread is literally some of the best I've ever had!!! It's totally savory with the sweetness only coming from the honey butter on top. Absolute perfection! (It was so good it almost got a pass on the price point. Almost. If the restaurant is reading this, take note: the cornbread is off the hook, but charging nearly $7 for one piece is ridiculous even in these inflationary times. Bring that price down a bit, and I won't be the only one ordering multiple slices at a time. I guarantee you'll sell so much more at a lower price that it will more than make up for the reduced margin.)
The chicken tenders are FAB! (I just had one bite off another person's plate, but I could tell I'll be ordering them for myself sometime.)
The carrot soufflé is a unique treat. (Full disclosure, I'm not a dessert person, so I found this a bit too sweet for my liking, but it was still less sweet than many other desserts. It's worth an order for sure if you like sweets even a little. Its custardy texture combined with the slightly earthy carrot flavor is lovely.)
I enjoyed all the sauces!
Only thing I didn't like were the pickles. I love pickles, but these were oddly fishy. (?)
Oh, and I also adored the sustainable packaging - the meat was wrapped in foil & butcher paper (the way it should be) - and everything else was in unbleached, recyclable...
Read moreI've ordered a bunch of times from Wonder from their numerous "restaurants". I will say from the stuff I have ordered in the past it's actually pretty good. I've ordered Tejas Barbecue and their smoked turkey sandwich is amazing. Streetbird has some tasty and pretty good fried chicken. Royal Greens salad bowls are very good, they're huge and all the ingredients are fresh. Fred's Meat and Bread make some really good burgers, very tasty and filling. Wing Trip makes great wings and if you want to order for huge party they have options for large combos at decent prices. Detroit Brick Pizza has some awesome meatballs with parm/red sauce and garlic bread. What's really cool about ordering from Wonder is that you can mix and match from different restaurants and pretty much makes your own meals which is a great idea. My only complaint I have with Wonder is a "restaurant" named Limesalt. They absolutely suck, the food doesn't taste fresh at all. It tastes like they microwave it. I've order twice from them and it'll be the last time I'll ever get Limesalt. They don't heat up or toast the tortillas when you order burritos, when you get the burrito it's a sloppy/soupy mess that falling apart and what's worse is that the food is not even warm. This has happened to me twice now so I'm pretty much avoiding them like the plague. There's dozens on top of dozens of real Mexican food in the area so when I'm craving it I'll order from one of those instead. Other than that Wonder is pretty good, I wish they had more "restaurants" to offer or at least switch up with a new one every so often or at least monthly instead of the same old thing they're currently offering. I'll continue to order from them because they do have some decent to good food. So hit them up if and when you're in the area or get the app to order, just avoid...
Read moreI have ordered/eaten from here 4 times now. I think their food is pretty good, especially the fries. A very decent amount of options. Pick up time is very quick. I wish there was more room for customization when ordering: Why can't I order a double cheeseburger with BBQ sauce when you have a double cheeseburger and a single BBQ burger? Why can't I request more pickles? I want at least 2 pickles per slice of my cheeseburger pizza since they're not small squares. Most of the food I've gotten was quite oily, except the french fries; they were never oily. Convenient location since I work less than a block away. Last 2 times I walked in no one was at the counter and I wasn't sure whether to call for someone or just take the bag from the shelf. But before I had to think about it too hard, or call for someone, a person came over and I just gave my name. Also I haven't figured it out but do I have to ask for ketchup? Because it's never in my bag even though it's in the picture next to...
