3/5 Food. Hit or miss. Occasionally great, sometimes mid or bleh, one saving grace are the large portions.
0/5 Service. Seems one family runs the place and they all have the same attitude. Be prepared for minimal service, no considerations, and to be chased down for additional tips that they’ll want for all the “complimentary” tea, pickles, and that we got any service at all during such a busy night. Don’t speak any English, but fully embracing that tipping culture.
1/5 Ambiance. Full of smoking and drinking mid aged Asian men, loud, smoky, crowded and hectic. Fine if the place is empty, probably reconsider if you’re not used to that type of atmosphere.
Good food ruined by poor service, if nothing is complimentary and tipping percentage is scaled to party size starting from 2, write it out. Don’t spring it on a guest right after a meal, totally ruined the entire experience.
Will not be returning.
Update: What a lovely passive aggressive response from the restaurant. Continues to display zero concept of customer service, no attempt at resolution or communication. Oh, completely didn’t address their waitstaff chasing a customer down, blocking their path and demanding more cash on the spot, threatening behavior which we unfortunately gave into. Deplorable behavior all around,...
Read moreThis place is pretty small and a little hard to find. When you go through the main door you have to go down a short but beautifully painted corridor of murals to get to the actual restaurant. The space itself has room for 3 extra large tables, a handful of 4 person tables and a small alcove of two people and some 4 person tables tucked away on a slightly elevated, separated area. If I’m not mistaken if you order $15 or $20 worth of dishes you get a free order of soup dumplings. We have gotten their beef noodle soup and pork noodle soup with an order of pan fried dumplings and hit the mark. All four orders together was very filling. The noodle soups have long thin noodles as the base, lots of vegetables were in the bowl, the broth for both were light and a little salty but not enough for us to mind. The beef wasn’t as tender as we had hoped. The soup dumplings really have a good ginger taste to the soup and the meat filling. They are very plump and full of broth! It’s a great lunch place but it fills up fast. The staff there mainly speak mandarin. We did have a hard time communicating with them since they didnt understand our Americanized-Cantonese and the person who understood English was helping another table but it was nothing pointing and body language...
Read moreGreat authentic food! Ordered spicy beef ($20), pepper and beef ($20), squirrel fish($45). I think these are the name.
They are not upfront about the cost for the fish. On the menu, the fish is $32 and they gave me two option of fish to choose from. They did not tell me that the fish I picked would cost $13 extra.
They have a requirement of minimum 15% tip, which cost me $14 in tip and $7 in tax.
When we asked to wrap the rest of the food for takeout , the cashier brought the food into the kitchen with his thumb dipped in the spicy beef soup. I can not describe how disgusted I am. This is extremely disturbing and unsanitary and it’s not okay. If they held by the rim of the bowl, then it’s fine. I don’t understand why the cashier thinks it’s a good idea to dip his thumb in the soup after handling cash all day???
Buy the food to go cuz probably not a good idea...
