This is a long review. You've been "warned".||There are many parts of Renaissance at Tangram you will either like very much (or love), and there are just a few things you will dislike severely (maybe even hate). In no order here are my opinions with ranking of 1 - 10.||Staff: Can I give them an 11?? I deal with everyone: valet, doormen, shuttle driver, house keeping, and obviously front desk. No attitude, no over the top cheesy fakeness. I travel a lot, and this group was amazing. Shoutout to the shuttle driver (Arturo?). Professional, friendly, great driver, not overly cautious, and honest. 10/10!||Hotel gym: WOW, maybe the best modern clean hotel gym I've used worldwide. I gave up on finding an honest gym (most use weird angles and have old equipment), walking into this gym was an OMG. I'm a gym rat, and if I could design a hotel gym, heck, any gym, it would be like this one. Easy 10/10.||Room size: So good! Get more room size in Flushing. Yeah, you're a longer #7 subway ride from the tourist trap stuff, and the planes go directly over your room, but this hotel is only 2 years old, and stylish! The bathroom was so big, and the main room laid out smartly. Hangars, water pressure, lights. 8 out of 10. Maybe a 9/10.||Technology: Big fat F. TV never works. Cell coverage forces you to log onto hotel wi-fi. Front desk says "we're looking into it". I call BS. I give them a 1 out of 10.||Cleanliness: Only 2 years old and stained. See picture. Rest of hotel was immaculate. If not for my stained bench it'd be 10/10, but they're getting 8/10.||Bedding/towels/comfort: Fail! Only 2 years old and the mattress was sacked out. Feels like the old mattress you put in the guest bedroom because you don't want to throw it away, and apologize to friends having to sleep in the spare room. The bedding feels like a Super 8 highway off ramp hotel bed. As a solo traveler visiting for food and exploring it was fine, but I'd never bring my partner for a romantic weekend because the bedding feels like the cheap stuff our parents sent us to college with. And our towels were not soft. I know it's an Asian style hotel and Asian towels are not deeply luxurious. Ours were ripped. And the toilet paper is professional hotel grade (bulk rate cheap). This gets 5/10. ||Elevators. WTF! When the hotel prints out how to use the elevator you know it's F'd up. Obviously due to zoning and building design, but plan to be confused the first day. One day 2 you will be a "pro" at which door, which button and where to hop off. EVERY door is black. Everyone agreed this hotel's elevators is among the worst in our travels. This is a 5 out of 10 (day 1 is 2/10, rest of trip 8/10).||Quietness: 37th Avenue is under construction. They even work weekends. They start early. Combined with the planes, well, you should plan to be out and about during the day. Nothing the hotel can do, but if this sort of noise pisses you off then stay elsewhere (and not under LaGuardia air space) or bring ear plugs. Another 5/10.||Summary: don't know if I'd intentionally stay here for a romantic or couples weekend unless your partner is okay with the above opinions. My partner values gym, price, and service. But the noise is a dealbreaker for them. Even with the construction noise I'd stay here again. The low quality sheets are barely passable. The lumpy mattress is the only reason I'd go elsewhere. Hopefully Marriot corporate reads these. Hopefully management doesn't give the usual cut and paste "we appreciate...we've notified....we're working on..." If there's a great room rate then I'd be swayed. Overall a nice place to visit an...

Read moreLet's start with rooms. It has a great modern feel to it and is quiet considering where it is in Flushing. Stayed in a king bed room on the 6th floor and didn't hear a peep. Unlike the standard hotel set up, the shower, toilet and sink are all separated and with a curtain, can be closed off from the bedroom. Fully enclosed shower with great water pressure and hot water. Toilet is also fully enclosed. The bed was comfortable and I optioned for foam pillows as it's a little firmer compared to down. One down side is the lack of a clock. Had to constantly check my phone or watch to tell time. Very clean room also. Didn't try room service as the prices are up there of course. Better just venturing out into Flushing and bringing food back if you want to dine in your room. They do have restaurants on site and a Starbuck down in the lobby. Concierge was very courteous and friendly. Seems like some airlines use this hotel as I had to wait for a group of 6 to check in and have all their questions answered before I could check in. Victoria the concierge on duty was quick and efficient with them so felt the wait wasn't bad. Location, the main entrance is located on 37th Ave off Prince street which is a very heavily traveled area...and the street is narrow. If you're driving, be prepared to deal with some traffic as you navigate there. I would ding them a star to 3 for service when it comes to valet but I understand how staffing can be. There were two cars ahead of me in the driveway. The first car had no one in it but the valet seemed to be taking photos of it...maybe to document existing damage? Basically I had to wait about 15 minutes before I was able to pull up and be taken care of. Remember how I mentioned the street was narrow? It's also just one way and one lane so imagine if there was a line up of vehicles with not enough valet. They have a system where you can text your ticket number ahead of time to have your car ready. I did this while packing and getting ready to check out at 6AM on a weekday. Let's say I was down at the main entrance by about 6:35am and my car wasn't there. 1 valet working with just one car that he had pulled out. The wait wasn't that bad afterwards, 5 minutes. Just don't know how efficient their text system is, might be better to call ahead or contact the concierge instead. Valet parking is $38? Maybe as a Marriott Bonvoy member it can be waived? Or as a hotel guest? All in all it was a great stay. Did I also mention they just opened this past August of 2022? Lovely new hotel and...
