黄记煌 Simmer Huang — Restaurant in Newark

This is my second time coming to Simmer Huang and both times I didn’t have any wait time. I did come during the weekday so that might’ve been the reason. It’s located on the second floor on top of Jack’s.

I was seated quickly since there wasn’t really any people there during that time. I wasn’t handed a menu on both times and had to figure out by myself to scan the QR code on the table. The only thing I didn’t like about that is the items weren’t really descriptive. Ordering through the QR code didn’t let me know what was in the broth or if it was spicy or not. I had to wave a worker and ask them. And unfortunately the one I ordered thinking that it wasn’t spicy was still a bit spicy for my level. The broth was still good, but I had to take little sips at a time due to the spiciness.

The price is pretty nice for an all you can eat hot pot. Monday - Thursday the price is around $20 per person after taxes. You get four choices of meat. My personal favorite were the lamb and pork. You can also add other type of meats for an additional charge.

I had lunch here by myself after work. And I was craving for noodles, and I found this one. I ordered the hot & sour beef noodle soup. I surprised about the soup and noodles. It taste fresh and rich, but not salty like some others. I cannot eat spicy food, but this one I can accept it, not too spicy, the one I ordered just about . I love it after the first taste of the soup. Highly highly recommend go for their noodles. And I was also surprised they have ice cream as dessert, barely restaurant offers dessert now, but they do. Ice cream tastes awesome too.

And I took my whole family to try their pots last night, and they are not as good as the noodle. Their pots all I taste are the source, and they are salty, definitely need rice to go with it if order. But I order another green pepper fish noodle, taste good!! My whole family loves their noodles. Seriously their noodles taste awesome!
