Hot Topic — Local services in Newark

The store is nice and clean, and the staff are awesome. This HT has a great selection of clothes and for the most part things are easy to locate.

My only complaint would be demand. Whenever I come here, there seems to be a lot of items out of stock or not in my size, though I'm an XS so it's possible they just didn't make the product in that size. However, the stock is a problem as well. It might just be tough luck on my end and when I visit, but whenever I do there isn't much in the band section where I shop. I'm not taking a star off for it though, because I get that HT is popular af and they're trying their best to keep up with demand. I mostly shop online anyway. :)

Plus, their jewelry is incredible! Excellent selection for chokers, bracelets, necklaces and other stuff. I can't find good-quality emo jewelry on Amazon and any other places so this is a huge...

Needed to do an online return. DON'T EVER BUY online! All 6 shirts came separately or as 2 per package. They didn't give me the promo price as advertised (buy two get one free), only one shirt free. Returned all but 3 which meant I should have received one free. Due to hot topics aweful package slip stating different tax for each shirt, not staying it's a promo price, not stating a price on two of the items, etc. Couldn't do anything about it. Two shirts I ordered didn't even come with a package receipt with any info other than they're from hope topic and the order number. Took over an hour to return the shirts. Had to do mutiple transactions. Associate Gabe was nice, but helped other customers before my transactions were completed, dragging on the crappy experience. NOT shopping with hot...

Today (Sunday), we visited the Hot Topic store about 20 minutes before closing. Immediately upon entering, we were overwhelmed by a foul odor—it genuinely smelled like a broken toilet or sewage issue. The ventilation in the store was extremely poor, and it was difficult to breathe comfortably.

This raises serious concerns about the health and safety conditions for both customers and employees. No one should have to work in that kind of environment. It’s possible there’s a plumbing or sewage issue that needs urgent attention.
