This place would get a 0-star ranking if only I could give one. The first night we stayed here, we stayed in room 127. That is the one truly handicapped accessible room. The A/C was broken. It was hot and stuffy. The front desk person came to the room & attempted to fix it but he was unable. He ended up opening the window, which had no screen. He said there would be something for us at the front desk in the morning, there wasn't. In addition, the metal cover for the bathroom fan was hanging perilously from the ceiling, which I feared might actually fall on one of us at a most inopportune time and injure us. The outlets at the counter had no power. The next night we moved to room 325. The bathtub had a transfer seat that is made up of hinged slats, which present a pinching hazard to one's skin, and looked FAR from sanitary, and they move around. Though there were TWO phones in the room neither one of them had an active phone line. Maintenance had to come up & adjust the a/c unit because we couldn't get it to work. The TV was broken. Neither room mentioned above had towel racks for hanging any towels, or even a shelf, or counter, for putting any toiletries on. On night number 3 we moved to another room. We were assigned to room 227. As soon as I opened the door I was horrified! The room was never cleaned: both beds had been slept in, dirty towels were strewn all over the bathroom & room and a soaked, dirty towel lay in the bottom of the kitchen sink, dirty dishes lay all over the counter, and food matter was on the stove, floor and in the sink. Guest Relations said they had no authority to change our room when I lodged a complaint, but they promised someone would call me back at 9am the next morning, they didn't. The front desk moved us to room 225. Again, the multiple issues: knob on a/c broken off & blowing hot air. Window had devices preventing closure. Buttons on phone missing. Refrigerator rocked. Toilet squealed loudly when flushed & in constant state of running. Front desk promised to send someone to our room at 11pm, but they never showed up. Though ad in room shows several items can be delivered to room, front desk cannot actually be called directly from phone in room, when going to front desk we were told they had no coffee pot available, and we've also been told the front desk personel are not available to leave the desk. So really the ad in the room is false advertising. We spent the night miserably sweating with little sleep. In the morning I asked if the manager was on the property. I again had been told no. It was not until the afternoon that I was finally able to talk to him. I tried to address my concerns with him at that time concerning our experiences up to this point but he was not interested. So I told him I needed maintenance to come to our room to address the window, the a/c, and the toilet. He said he would send someone up. Time went by. I checked back. Maintenance was busy fixing another a/c unit. More time goes by and I check again. Maintenance is fixing another a/c unit & a toilet. More time goes by...still no maintenance. I've been sick for hours from being overheated: nausea, headache, dizziness, shakiness, fatigue. I've had enough. I can't take another minute of the sweltering room, & so far every room has had multiple problems. Changing rooms was not going to fix the problem. This motel is mismanaged & in disrepair. When requesting a refund, the manager refused. Customer Relations never called back.
Edit: 06/21/19 - dear hotel management, I am sure I do not know who the the "concerned individuals" are that you have mentioned here in your reply, but it certainly has not been us. We first checked into this Extended Stay location on Friday June 14, & have never been contacted by anyone. We were assigned 4 rooms, and every single room had multiple issues including broken phones, broken air conditioning, broken TV, a missing recliner, no power in outlets, inaccessible bathtubs in handicapped accessible rooms, and MANY more! The manager never sent maintenance, and...
Read moreI will never book this hotel again. I paid over $200 for 2 nights (Thursday and Friday). The room seemed fine when I first walked in except, I noticed the smoke detector hanging from the ceiling which I let Branden know about. I brought my stuff in from the car then left to run some errands before settling in. When I went to use the bathroom, I noticed hair on the vanity and in the sink, which I wiped down myself. I looked in the shower and there was hair in there as well. Later that night, I was tired and just wanted to take a shower and go to bed. When I turned it on, water shot out from the side spraying me, the mirror, sink, vanity and the floor. Then, I woke up around 3 or 4 in the morning, turned on the light just in time to see a cockroach crawling up to the kitchen counter. In the morning, I let Branden know about the problems with the room and explained that I hadn’t seen the bathroom yet when he asked me previously about the room. I said I was not happy after paying $200+ dollars. He was very nice and said he would inform his manager and get back to me. Well, the manager never showed up. I went back to the office and was told the manager would “be here any time now”. After waiting all morning and into the afternoon, another staff member who was also very nice offered me another room. I said how about just let me stay an extra night instead? She said the manager (who we were already waiting for) needs to approve that. So, around 5:30 pm and after waiting all day, I went back to the office again. A different staff member was there who was not very friendly at all. She kept talking over me while I was trying to explain the situation. She kept asking “what time was this and what time was that”? Apparently, it was for my complaint which wouldn’t be addressed until Monday. She also said it was noted that I declined a different room. No, I did not decline a different room. I asked for an extra night instead as compensation which needed approval from a manager, so we were waiting on that decision until the manager arrived. She had no interest in my explanation. Oh, and she had another reason regarding the timeline. Since I spent the night in the room and waited until morning to report the other issues, she basically told me it’s not their problem since I didn’t report everything the same day I checked in. I said so I’m out $200 dollars? I kid you not, she actually nodded her head “YES”. There is nothing in the welcome sheet that states all issues must be reported the same day after checking in. The shower issue was late at night and the cockroach was in the middle of the night. I reported those issues in the morning. But since the manager was a no show all day, she turned it around on me as the one at fault. I finally just walked away (which I'm sure is what she wanted). I lived at the Extended Stay in Dublin for almost 3 years (checking out last month). I worked just a few blocks away and it was more affordable than an apartment. During my time there I never had any bugs or issues like I had in the 2 days I spent here. The staff were always polite, warm, friendly and very accommodating. It was very clean and any issues were addressed immediately. There was always a manager or assistant manager on site as well. If the room in Fremont had been properly cleaned and maintained, I’m sure I would have had a fairly...
Read moreI hesitate to give any location a 1-stay review, but in rare instances, I am forced to. This location was vastly below expectations in every regard and metric you could place on a hotel. I will recount our experiences in chronological order.
Our reservation was for three rooms with two queen beds. When we arrived at around 6pm, we learned that the hotel had oversold their rooms. They only had an "upgraded" room available with a king bed and a pullout couch. For one person this would not have been a problem, but there were six of us and we really wanted our own beds after a long day of travelling. After being told there was nothing they could do, we accepted the king+pullout rooms and asked for sheets for the pullout couches. Unfortunately, due to their capacity, they did not have sheets available for one of the pull out couches, but they assured us if we came back later the sheets would be available.
We went out to dinner and returned around 10pm and asked the front desk for sheets. They were still not ready. At this point we were fed up and simply went to bed, two guys cramming into a king bed for the night. The next morning we requested to be moved into the two queen rooms we originally requested but were informed that wouldn't be possible until others had checked out. We were in town for work and couldn't wait around the front desk all day to switch rooms so we capitulated and stayed our full 3-day stay switching off between the bed and the pull out couch (we did manage to get sheets for the pull out couch on our second night).
Breakfast consisted of nature valley granola bars, plastic-wrapped cupcakes, and coffee. We opted for the Starbuck's within walking distance or the Denny's across the street instead.
They will advertise that their kitchenette rooms can come with silverware, pots/pans, and coffee makers, but they neglect to inform you that this is on a first-come first-served basis. When they hit capacity, they will not have any of these amenities available (even sheets are apparently not available either). We were able to get a single pot and two mugs to heat water to make tea as they were out of all available coffee machines throughout our entire stay.
The main lobby, stairwell, and elevator reek of marijuana and tobacco smoke despite their signage indicating that this is a smoke-free establishment. We encountered all sorts of folks wandering into and out of the hotel, many arguing with the front desk over who knows what. We tried to spend as little time in the hotel as possible.
Their front entrance is under 24-hour surveillance too, which is certainly a bellwether of the quality one can expect staying at this Extended Stay America.
My recommendation would be to pony up the extra $20 a night and stay at a Marriott, IHG, or any other hotel. This was absolutely not worth the "cheap" price, and I hope this review will help others from the unfortunate experience me and my six friends...
