I don’t usually leave reviews, but I felt genuinely compelled to share my experiences with Bing’s. Every time I’ve ordered a cake here, it’s been effortless—place the order, pick it up, and it’s perfect. Not just “good enough,” but spot-on: exactly what I envisioned, beautiful to look at, and even better to taste. But what really sets Bing’s apart isn’t just their skill in the kitchen or the clean space—it’s the way they treat people. Every interaction I’ve had, no matter who I speak with, has left me feeling respected, welcomed, and cared for. That level of consistency in customer service is rare, and it never goes unnoticed. A recent situation really showed me what kind of business this is. I had ordered two cakes, but ended up sick and had to cancel one. Then, an emergency kept me from picking up the other. Instead of brushing it off, Bing’s followed up several times to make sure I was okay and to see if I still wanted the cake. In the end, they refunded me, even though I fully expected to pay; and honestly would have gladly done so, knowing it was my responsibility. That gesture spoke volumes. It wasn’t just about money; it was about compassion, care, and integrity. Bing’s isn’t just a bakery. They’re a business built on pride, kindness, and respect. And judging by the way their team carries themselves, I’d bet they take care of their employees just as well as they take care of their customers.

We’re a military family stationed in Dover, DE. From the time of our arrival, Bing’s has been a constant from us. They created an amazing cake for our baby’s first smash cake and we’ve been retuning customers ever since. Not only do we enjoy their custom cakes and cupcakes for our family but we also enjoy their daily items out of the window every time we’re in the area. The first cake Bing’s made for us was our son’s first birthday cake, a monster cake from his favorite book: The Very Hungry Worry Monsters. Yesterday, we picked up our son’s 4th birthday cake: a duck cake from Bluey’s “Duck Cake” episode. One of our guests said “Whoa. A cake that tastes as great as it looks…Nice!” We are so appreciative of the time and efforts the owner, baker, and the team puts into making our family’s occasions so special. Our memory books are full of their hard work and we couldn’t be more grateful. Thank you all so much for what you do every day!

Disappointed!! I don’t normally write reviews but I’m very disappointed with the cake I received. The picture with the flowers is what I requested and the other is what I received (ignore the flowers, I requested just the base). I can understand that the color cannot be matched completely but I feel this is a total fail. I planned a lavender theme party for my sister and needless to say, the cake didn’t match the theme. If its a slight difference I would have compromised but the colors are totally different and not even attractive!! Also I was charged extra for an extra layer of cake as the one I requested is tall, but I received the normal regular size cake.

Our family has been getting our cakes from here for the last few years, but our most recent experience will most likely be our last.

I ordered a half sheet cake for my daughter's first birthday on March 13th for a March 30th pick up and paid in full at the time I placed the order. Fast forward to March 30th, and when I arrive to pick up my cake, the bakery cannot find my order. They couldn't even find the order slip that was filled out by the young lady at the counter the day I ordered it. Based on the timestamps of my texts to my spouse, whom I was updating on the situation, it took them about 20-25 minutes from the time they realized that they couldn't find it to get who I assume was some type of manager involved, and they offered to make a cake for me on the spot after I showed them the bank transaction for $60 (full price for half sheet cake). I let them know I needed to leave in 15 minutes max because I was going to be late to my daughter's party. They make the cake and bring it out and its a quarter sheet instead of the half sheet cake I paid in full for. At that point, I needed to leave right then and had already been there about 40 minutes, so I gave the young lady who gave me the cake my contact information and was advised I would receive a call on that Monday regarding the issues with my order.

Monday rolls around, no call. I e-mail the bakery and was advised I needed to call. Called on Tuesday, was advised that somebody would give me a call back on Wednesday. No call back on Wednesday. I call on Thursday (today) and finally got through to the person I was supposed to and was advised that they would only be giving me a refund on the price difference between the quarter and half sheet, and not the full refund that I requested, because I technically walked out with a cake. I explained that they lost my original order, made me wait, gave me the wrong size, made me late to my daughter's birthday party, and because the size was a quarter sheet, instead of a half sheet, we didn't have enough cake to feed our guests. I was advised that the lead baker "checked the tapes" and I wasn't there as long as I stated I was. Nothing was even acknowledged regarding the mess up on their end with the original order and the remake.

At this time, I am waiting on yet another call back as to whether they are going to give me the full refund that I again asked for. We have used this bakery for my kids' birthday cakes for the last four years, but unfortunately, this will most likely be our last time due to the poor customer service.

UPDATE - Only received a refund of half of what I paid (Paid $60 total in advance). Disappointed in the customer service and lack of accountability from ownership. Still haven't heard back from the bakery regarding the issue aside from the response left below...

Ordered a custom cake, after MULTIPLE phone calls and sending PICTURES via email to make sure it was going to be exactly what I ordered, and agreeing on the cost, I thought by submitting pictures and speaking directly with 2 different people on the decorating side it would have made a difference. Drove an hour out of my way to pick it up and it had the wrong colors and the wrong flowers. Not only were they not willing to fix it they wanted to be paid extra for doing it wrong, and had the worst nonchalant attitude I've ever seen. Very much could care less and we're like take it or leave it. All they had to do when I submitted the order with plenty of time to reorder somewhere else was to say they couldn't do it. They are fine for run if the mill regular things but don't count on custom. Let's see how did she say it "everyone does their roses differently,' funny thing was they were supposed to be peonies not roses... Understand what caliber your decorator is before you agree and then have the nerve to charge more. Sadly disappointing. I sent them a follow-up email requesting to speak with someone and have been ignored for a week. I can only imagine what any of the couples who were there to do a wedding tasting thought, think twice and know exactly what you are getting. They offer online ordering for their products, the idea that you can't order online and communicate via pictures, email, and telephone and get what you order is beyond mind blowing. The manager that was there the day I went to pick up the cake was rude and lacked basic customer service empathy, I'm not really sure how they think that coming into the store would have changed the outcome of this issue, they would have had the same picture and the same conversation as was had over the phone. What could have been a very easy fix turned into a last minute scramble to find a solution...

Very upset by they way I was treated. I spoke with Karla about baby shower cookies. She was very helpful and gave me all the information that I needed. I had to speak with the future grandmother before placing an order. When I went back to place the order I asked to speak with Karla and they would not let me said that they would help. The cookies that I wanted that Karla gave me a price of $8.00 a dozen, now went up to $1.25 each. The other cookies that I wanted with frosting went from $2.50 to $5.00 . I left without placing the order because they would not listen to me and what Karla and I discussed. I was very upset driving home and called the store to speak with a manager. I explained the whole story and she told me that Karla or she would call me first thing the next day. Well it is now 1:20pm and I have not heard from anyone. I guess they really don't care about customers. This was going to be a $50.00 plus order and I would have ordered my pies for Thanksgiving from them, but after NO service I won't. Very disappointed with them and how this was handled. Karla was very nice and helpful, but when I asked to speak with her on two occasions I was told she is busy,. I asked to wait for her and was told no. * in response to the reply to this review - the theme didn't keep changing - the only thing that kept changing was the price when I went to place the order and when you called me you basically told me it was my fault that i should have placed the order the first time I went in to ask question. I spoke with you the owner and when I asked to speak with you the day I placed the order I was told no and when I kept getting different pricing I again requested to speak with you and was told no. The order went to Cannon's bakery who was very helpful and the entire staff was nice...
