Los Gallos Taqueria — Restaurant in Newark

My wife and I came over here eat at Del Taco. At first we were disappointed the Del Taco closed and there was a new Taqueria. But we were hungry and it sounded good so we gave it a shot. My wife and I agree that it was an 8 out of 10 experience. The gentleman assisting us at the counter gave me a great suggestion on what to try and it was delicious. He even provided samples of the meat. Very flavorful and juicy. He was very helpful. They provided us with chips and salsa and our drinks immediately. We only had to wait a few minutes for a meal to be delivered to our table. Probably less than 5 minutes. The portions were not high but they were very reasonable. We both left feeling full.

So I took two points off of the possible 10 because some of the chips they gave us for slightly burnt and they worked salted very consistently. Some of them are over salted and some of them had no salt. That's minor though. Also I felt my beans were a little firm and not fully cooked. In addition to that they have a system when somebody orders it's very loud and it filled the whole dining area as they communicated with our customer. This last point is kind of trivial but they were mopping right by our table when we were eating. The smell of the mop and cleaning solutions directed from the tastes of my meal. But we were eating 30 minutes before they close and I guess that's expected. And it is good to see that they do clean well. When we were done eating our dishes and garbage were cleaned up promptly. That was kind of nice. He also refilled are sodas and brought out some more chips for me. He also offered me extra tortillas a couple of times during my meal.

Overall my wife and I decided we will definitely come back. I would invite you to come enjoy this new restaurant...

The lady named Gisselle tried to scam me today (February 2 , 5:24 PM) the lady was being clearly suspicious by repeating my order 3 times but jI didn’t think anything of it. i order the same burrito every time I come , and the price is always the same, so when I got to the window the lady says 15$, I ask “ are you sure this isn’t a super burrito it’s usually 12 dollars “ and she said no and continued to charge my card 52$. Luckily I got a notification from my phone and I told the staff and they clearly got super nervous saying “ we thought you ordered 4 burritos “ after again, she repeated my order 3 times already before , the same lady, she then offered me 4 burritos for free because she clearly got caught. there was no other people before me in the drive threw so she clearly thought she was slick. I called in to ask if there is menudo the lady says “yes” I go in only to find out there is no menudo no pozole, no kind of soup (even when it is listed on the menu) I am trying to decide what to order and out of the blue comes this man yelling at me over the window demanding that I make up my mind because they are about to close (even when their advertisement clearly states that they are open until 10:00 pm) it is only 8:44 pm It is very frustrating to have to deal with people that have NO CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS whatsoever.
