I recently had the chance to check out @novabakerylb which is a newer Venezuelan bakery located near the St. Mary’s. They serve a lot of Venezuelan classics such as arepas, empanadas, pastelitos, potato balls, tequeños, and more! Featured here is a breakfast staple called the cachapa. It’s comprised of a flat corn cake that’s fried on the plancha and filled with a Venezuelan white cheese. It’s a sweet and savory combo that works quite well—and the texture is crispy, soft, and supple. It’s a delight. Next time you’re looking to try something new, check out Nova Bakery and grab some Venezuelan bites!

Update 5/1/23: Been here a couple more times with my parents and they also enjoyed it a lot. There's a lot of variety on rotation, and I continued to get the beef slices. They may look a bit dry sometimes, but was tasty and not too dry all 3 times I got it. My mom loves their bowl of soup ($3). Bottled water is $1 and soft drinks $1.50. You can pay with card or cash. Original review 2022: At $9/lb, their meal is great value! It's Buffet style, so sanitize your hands and grab a plate or a takeout container and pick your choosing! The price is different if you only take fish/meat ($17/lb), or fish/meat + salad ($15/lb), or salad/fruit only ($8/lb). Basically, if you want to be charged $9/lb you need to have at least around 50% of your plate consisting of sides, and the sign says that sides includes rice, potato, veggies, beans and salad includes lettuce, carrot, onions, tomato, and beets). There's a separate counter for salad/fruits, including a Russian salad (potato based salad with mayo). Would the Russian salad count as salad or as side? No idea! For my first try, I chose rice, beans, broccoli, peppers, grilled beef, and a bit of Portuguese sausage and what I assume to be some chouriço croquette. Everything was tasty, yet healthy. The fact that you can choose what you put there makes it easier to get an equilibrated dish. My husband got rice, chickpeas, a piece of fish, oxtail?, and a potato. Most things were delicious here too, the oxtail had a strong wine taste to it which he appreciated but I didn't. The fish was a bit hard and we were not fans. The sardinhas looked better, but I don't usually like sardinhas 😭 or fish in general. Once you're done choosing, you can pay with cash or card at the counter next to the buffet area and they weigh in front of you. Since this was the first time we got food here, we weighed the food at home and we had a bit over 2lbs (~2.2 lbs) but got charged just 2 lbs. Not sure if they rounded down to account for the container. We got it to go because it was quite full at 1:20pm, but you can put everything on a plate instead of a container and for plates, they have an empty one on the weight so they can offset the weight of the plate for you. It was overall a good experience and we will be back to try other dishes and combinations!

Stop by this place yesterday at 5 P.M after buying two dozen of Pastel de Nata to go and 4 with Nutella.... after coming home to eat one of the Pastel de Nata with Nutella it was made with Blueberry and paid extra for Nutella. I tried to call now and they hung up the phone on me.... because they don't speak English. It will be my first and last at this place.

I went to this coffee shop and purchase the coffee. As I drink my coffee while grading some of my paperwork. I noticed that I was in a bigger table than the rest so I asked this lady if she needed to use it since there was no more tables available. The lady said no that it would be still too small for her because she had more people coming, so I had nowhere else to change, the owner of the business came to me and started saying I was wasting space in his bakery. He said that I was taking up too much space and wasting his chairs. I explain to him that I had asked the lady if she wanted to move because I did notice that the table was bigger than the other ones, but she didn’t want to and it was the only table in the establishment and I told him that I paid for the coffee as well. I was rudely and disrespectfully treated. Yet the owner treated me badly with the loud voice kept on saying I was...

Had to come.in not once but twice. The first time it was in and out. The place was packed up and very hot inside. Came back a day later in the morning and it was something else. The place has a huge Portuguese flag outside, the name is Portuguese but the staff is Spanish. I started speaking fluent Portuguese and again had to switch to Spanish bc the staff doesn't understand Portuguese. FINE! That morning the place was clean, the staff was pleasant but the music...LOWER THE MUSIC! AT 8AM on a Sunday they are playing Bachata , salsa at high volume, blasting! Sorry, but we are barely awake, or hung over (not ort case). We just wanted to have a peaceful breakfast, put some fado or more mellow songs even salsa but not...
