Horrible experience! So we attended this restaurant for my little cousins 22nd birthday. The atmosphere was nice and the decor was also nice. As for the food it was horrible. I chose the seafood combination which sounded better on paper. The ingredients was fettuccine, shrimp, clams, octopus muscles, with spicy tomatoes. Once I received my food the presentation was not up to my standards. It was basically noodles in a bowl.I could have had Beefaroni and added salt to it and would have been more satisfying. My drink was called Manage a toris which tasted like flavored water instead of cognac, rum, and pomegranate. My spouse ordered chicken with and goat cheese and fettuccine. The only thing good on that dish was the chicken the rest of the meal was bland/tasteless. So I informed our waiter about the food and his response was well your spouse ate the chicken. So what did I want him to do about the situation. My response was well I'm only paying for the chicken and my meal plus the drinks that we ordered and could he please bring my check. As for the rest of the party their food was either undercooked or overcooked or was the wrong order. Is Chef Ramsay from Hell's Kitchen was there he would have been raising hell because the food was so nasty. The food was not freshly made it tasted like it was pre-cooked and reheated last but not least. He actually charged me $10.60 for gratuity but he only charged my spouse $10 for the chicken instead of the $21 for the meal. But why should I have to pay a tip...
Read moreI am not the greatest authority in the world about tapas like I am tacos, though I know a bit. I've been to tapas joints in several cities and generally like them. But Mompou was pretty far down on the list of places I've been.
The service was crappy. And the waiter knew it, yet didn't really do anything about it. My party kept making jokes about how authentic the experience was that we had empty glasses of beer sitting on the table for a half hour.
The sangria was weak, had minimal fruit in it, and wasn't especially good. A good sangria is a chance to set the tone for a good Spanish meal, and they totally dropped the ball here too.
The food itself was decent, though unspectacular. The portion sizes were way too small as well. We got the "racion" size of patatas bravas, which was supposed to be big. While the potatoes did pack a little punch, there were probably about a dozen or so new potatoes cut into larger-sized chunks. I just paid a dollar per new potato?
The chorizo was fine, but nothing special, the ratatouille lacked flavor, the shrimp were kind of skimpy, and I liked the chicken meatballs.
Luckily, being in a large group of friends and having fun kept the evening from becoming awful, which it easily could have. Needles to say, however, I won't be coming back here, when there are so many cool options in...
Read moreLike a lot of people, we went there for a Prudential Center pre event dinner due to overflow at our 1st choice. Place was busy but we were quickly seated with no reservations. Just in time too as mostly everyone who arrived after us had to wait. The manager who welcomed & sat us was very nice & professional. Waitress was pleasant & competent but got overwhelmed a bit as it was busy. My 2nd drink was forgotten & it took a bit for her to make her way back to us. In the time it took to get my 2nd drink, I could've finished it & would've ordered another. We had 4 tapas; Clams in garlic cilantro albarino wine sauce, Baby bella mushrooms sauteed in olive oil sherry vinegar and fresh herbs, grilled hanger steak, & Grilled marinated new zealand baby lamb chops served over rice with mushrooms, dried fruits. Tho the presentation was simple, everything was cooked well & tasted delicious. We grabbed a drink at the bar afterwards. The bartender that served us was a little wet behind the ears & had to waste two Don Julio tequilas because she didn't understand what "neat" was & that I wanted a side of club not, the tequila in club. She got it eventually & apologized. Hated to see the Don Julio wasted like that tho. Overall considering it was a busy Sat night we had a good time, & may make Mompou a 1st...
