I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Black Bear Diner, and I must say, the experience was absolutely fantastic! The food was beyond amazing, and I cannot express enough gratitude for the exceptional service provided by one particular server.
This was our second time visiting the neighborhood due to a remodeling project we've been working on, and we were in need of a good meal to fuel up for the day. That's when we decided to stop by The Black Bear Diner and were fortunate enough to be served by an awesome server. Although I can't recall his name, I remember he was an African American male from Louisiana, and he truly made our visit memorable.
From the moment we entered, he greeted us with warmth and treated us like family. His genuine hospitality and enthusiasm were contagious, instantly putting us at ease. Not only did he make us feel welcome, but he also went above and beyond by suggesting some truly remarkable food items. Being from South Carolina, I was craving some authentic grits, and he made it happen! The grits were absolutely delicious and satisfied my craving perfectly.
What truly stood out was his extraordinary customer service. He took the time to ensure we were comfortable, checked on us regularly, and even engaged in friendly conversation. It's rare to find someone who genuinely cares about their customers and goes the extra mile to provide exceptional service, but this server did just that.
I want to express my sincere appreciation for his efforts in making our dining experience at The Black Bear Diner truly remarkable. He exemplified the epitome of excellent customer service, and his passion for his work was evident in every interaction. Thanks to his recommendations and attentiveness, our meal was not only delicious but also an enjoyable experience.
However, I do have one small complaint regarding my attempt to find out the server's name. Today, when I called the restaurant to inquire about his name, the receptionist seemed hesitant and claimed not to know who I was referring to. It seemed as though there was a fear of potential negative feedback prompting this reaction. I want to clarify that my intention was quite the opposite. I strongly believe that this exceptional server deserves recognition for his outstanding service, and I wanted to take the time to let him know how much we appreciated him. Despite this minor hiccup, it does not diminish the overall amazing experience we had at The Black Bear Diner.
I highly recommend visiting The Black Bear Diner, not just for their incredible food but also for the exceptional service provided by their remarkable staff, especially this outstanding server from Louisiana. Thank you once again for an unforgettable dining experience. We will definitely be returning...
Read moreWe came with a group of 20. We were told the wait would be over an hour and she could not seat us together even though the restaurant was only half full. They said they did not have any tables to seat a group this size. I pointed out their side room that seated 25 and asked if we could have that room as it was empty and was told no. I asked to speak with the manager and was told she was the manager. She said the only thing she could do was break our group up into 8 and seat us every 15 min. That meant the last group would sit for 45 min by themselves and only order as the 1st group was done. I again asked could we all sit in the side room understanding that they did not have the extra staff so it would take longer I was still told no. This was a reunion of family that have not seen each other for over 20 years and came together for a 100th birthday. It defeats the purpose if we are separated and done eating when the last group even gets a seat. We were from 8 different states and only a few of them have eaten at this chain. We heard great reviews and all wanted try it out. This was the only chance we would all get to eat together as people were leaving right after dinner to return to their homes. We all felt the manager was quite rude and did not have any understanding of this being a reunion dinner. There was not a way for us to book a time beforehand because we did not know when the birthday party would end. We were willing to all wait in the side room for the service knowing it would take longer but she refused that option. We went to Abbys pizza where we still had to wait, but they cleared tables and and held them for our group and they were packed out! As for me, I won't choose this chain as a desired place to go if the policy it not to gain business and work with your groups. If this diner was at full capacity I would certainly understand the issues but the regular diner was only half full and the side room was...
Read moreWhat has happened to BBEAR? Just had the most disgusting meals. And the service was absolutely horrible and rude! The girls at the front would rather stand and talk about schedules, someplace they had gone, or something…. One, finally said she’d go check on my order. She said it would be right out, but then proceeded to talk about 8 minutes before going back again to “check on it”. That’s because I finally stood up to let her know I was getting tired of waiting. They said it would be ready in 15-20 mins but it actually took 35+. And they were not all that busy. We used to get take out here quite a bit. It came in cardboard boxes, sometimes styrofoam. We don’t like styrofoam so always asked for the cardboard. But this time the containers were black plastic with tight fitting lids that ruin crispy food cuz of the steam. We live less than 3 minutes away! But the food was cold and soggy. My friend ordered fried chicken and I got a burger and fries. They were very limp and cool, no longer hot. The burger wasn’t hot either. Apparently they boxed the burger, and the fries in both containers while they waited for the chicken to finish frying. Everything was cold but the chicken. The burger was edible but neither of us could eat the super salty cold, soggy fries. There weren’t that many anyway. We paid $40 for this horrible meal! The burger was absolutely FLAVORLESS! The pickles were the only taste to it. The grilled onions were super greasy, soaked into the bun. I ate the meat and tomatoes with a knife and fork because the bun was soggy. And cold. The fried chicken was new on the menu so my friend ordered it. It had flavor and it was hot but he said it had much more breading than he liked. It wasn’t all that crispy after sitting in the steamer take out box. We won’t make this mistake again. If they’re going to charge these prices, they better find a way to make take out edible, or stop...
