We decided to stop in here just because it sounded interesting! The food is largely typical southern lunch fare.
My husband got the club sandwich and some Brunswick stew. Both of them he liked all right, but they weren't the best he's ever had and they definitely weren't the worst he's ever had.
I ordered a chicken salad scoop, a broccoli salad scoop and a macaroni salad scoop for my lunch. I was surprised when they came in these little bitty 4 oz cups. I was kind of surprised, because they weren't really scoops as far as I consider scoops! In the beginning I wasn't sure if it was going to be sufficient to fill me up.
The chicken salad is more Savory in flavor. It is made with dill relish, so it has a slightly vinegary flavor and a slightly garlic flavor. It was pleasant to eat, but it is not your typical Southern chicken salad that tends to be creamier and often sweeter with grapes in it. So there was nothing wrong at all with the chicken salad, it's just different than any other chicken salad that I've had in a while.
The broccoli salad was very good in flavor, although the sauce part was so runny that it dripped off completely, It was almost like eating raw broccoli with cranberries.
The macaroni salad had cheese, pimentos, and peas in it. I ended up mixing the macaroni salad with the chicken salad and having a macaroni chicken salad. That was pretty good! I would order these items again and don't really have any complaints because the flavor was good.
I was satisfied all right, but the very small "scoop" sizes also left a little bit of room to try their Kahlua Krunch dessert. The dessert was served in the same little 4 oz type of cup. It was actually a nice size for a little dessert treat without leaving their feeling stuffed.
Overall, we enjoyed the Redneck Gourmet. We would stop in here again with slightly different expectations, and we would be happy and satisfied leaving.. as we were on our first visit. It's just not really what we expected with gourmet in the name. It's good solid...

Stopped in for lunch and went with the Veggie Philly paired with a basket of fried pickles. Both hit the spot—plenty of flavor, fresh ingredients, and a nice crisp bite on the pickles that paired perfectly with their homemade buttermilk ranch dressing (absolutely excellent!). The hoagie roll was soft yet sturdy enough to hold the cheesy mushroom-and-onion-packed veggie filling.
It was also refreshing to see solid vegetarian options on a Southern-style menu—a welcome touch when many spots overlook it. Washed everything down with a half-sweet, half-unsweet iced tea, which was perfectly balanced and refreshing.
🍴 Highlights:
Delicious fried pickles with standout homemade buttermilk ranch
Veggie Philly full of flavor and satisfying
Vegetarian-friendly choices
Great iced tea, customizable to your liking
A relaxed spot with hearty portions and friendly vibes—worth a visit whether you’re after a big burger, a loaded sandwich, or a lighter...
Read moreStopped in for lunch the other day, cute, eclectic place with a menu that focuses mostly on burgers and hot dogs, but has a good bit of other things. Wife and I both had Hot dog meals (which come with the specialty dog, a side, and a drink). I opted to upgrade my side to their fried pickles. I'm glad I did. My wife went with the standard fries, which looked really good but were only warm and a tad limp. The fried pickles were stellar. More thinly sliced that a lot of places, a generous portion, not too salty, and hot and fresh. The dogs were good as well. I do wish I had studied the menu just a bit more (it's counter service and I always feel an urgency to get my order in at the counter) as they have a cup or bowl of Brunswick stew on the menu and I always like to try a place's stew when they have it. Would have been perfect for a cold, brisk day. Still, nice place to drop in for lunch if your out and about in...
