Terrible service walked in with a group of 9 people happy to be there on the 4th of July We drove 5 hours to get to this location recommended by a very close friend of ours who has sadly passed away he goes by the name of John P. We all walked in. No one came to great us and show us a table we had to serve our selves to a seat while half of the workers where on there phones we then had a seat at a dirty table and one of our good friends Conor costa was looking for a bath room while on the phone texting a very ill relative he walked down a hallway that looked like it was leading to a bathroom half way down the hallway a very big scary guy that didnāt smell quite pleasant about 6,3 250-280 LBS 45-55 years of age wearing a cap grabbed Conor costa by the neck with one hand aggressively he then screamed in his face and caused a scene at this establishment mind you this Conor is 5,11- 145 lbs letās give this tough guy a round of applause. What a good way to treat your first time customers his excuse for grabbing his neck, so aggressively without any warning was that he could have stole something from behind a bar mind you this Conor is A multimillionaire and could care less about a few drinks not only did he publicly assault him and publicly embarrassed him, but he also called him out on a nice AP diamond watch we was wearing and told everyone in there with a loud voice ānice fake watch buddyā and proceeded to try and involve other customers there with his joke, but everyone had looked at him in disgust and shock. 5 min after he aggressively assaulted our friend his other coworker white male 6,1 190-225 LBS also wearing a cap had came up 5 inches away from my face and told all of us to leave while we were seated and waiting patiently to be served just because of the irresponsible and unconscious decision made by assaulting our friend. This tough guy claimed to be the owner with such a role in a restaurant, you shouldnāt be putting your hands on anyone and ordering one of your coworkers that reported to his needs like a dog and proceeded to do what he said is embarrassing. it is embarrassing for the lack of communication and responsibility the whole situation couldāve been dealt with a few words, but instead they resorted to violence I will never be coming to that city again nor to that restaurant.
Would never recommend giving these guys...

My small group were here to watch the Alabama vs Tennessee game. We were there for the whole game and had only 3 drinks per person because we were cut off. Instead of our server telling us that we were cut off after having 3 drinks, she stopped coming to our table all together for the second half of the game. During that time, a different server had our group move to another table that was right next to a beam. Very inconvenient to watch the game, to say the least. After we were moved, our actual server still had not stopped by. We still wanted to order more food on top of a last round (would have been 4th drink). When we finally asked other servers if they could get our servers, we were told that our server wasn't coming over because she didn't want to serve us because I was too drunk. After three drinks, multiple waters (had to ask others at my table for theirs since our server REFUSED to serve us), and food, I was deemed too drunk. When we finally got a reason on how she came to that conclusion, she said it's because I did the sign of the cross during the game. That had been hours prior. When the table next to us noticed we weren't being served, they also asked their server what was going on. They even offered to buy us a round of shots but again, our server and at that point their server REFUSED to serve our whole group. All this was while the Phillies were playing, when people at the bar were yelling and cheering super loud that conversations couldn't be had. The bar groups were still served alcohol even though they were showing signs that they had too much but I was deemed drunk for doing the sign of the cross ON MY SELF. Lastly, We had a friend join us in the last quarter, he wasn't being served because he had also "drank too much", he had just got there and only wanted to get food.
And for complete transparency, my group were the only people in the bar who were NOT white. We weren't served water outside from when we first sat down. We had to flag down our server when we wanted to order anything because she refused to serve us. After reading other reviews, this place has a serious issues with consumers of color/racism. A customer, let alone a group of customers, shouldn't leave a bar...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreService was absolutely awful the other night! The bartenders had the WORST attitudes! While opening up a tab, the bartender closed someone elseās tab on my card (which was more expensive than mine) and then handed my card to someone else. Fortunately, I noticed my card had been given to someone else. When I informed her of the mistake, she rolled her eyes and said very rudely, āsign the receipt and open another oneā and walked away immediately. At this point because of the mistake, I did not tip her on the receipt, when she saw this she immediately held up the receipt and started shouting āTHANK YOU, THANKS SO MUCH!ā, which quickly drew unnecessary attention from everyone at the bar to myself. She then proceeded to get another bartender involved. When speaking in closer proximity to her, I explained that her attitude was unnecessary and I tip based on the service received, and that I had planned on tipping when I actually got to open a tab at the bar, meanwhile her attitude still hadnāt changed! At this point I informed her that she probably wouldnāt be getting any kind of tip from me because of the way she was acting, which she did not like at all, and began saying, āyou can leaveā! So she then proceeded to have the other bartender get in my face calling me, a ādickā and āassholeā, who proceeded to follow me out of the bar to the front shouting at police officers to have me arrested! (I kid you not, these people are lunatics!) These events took place within the first 10 minutes of arriving!
The service at Speakeasy Bar and Grill is horrendous, all due to the lack of customer service skills and blatant disrespect to customers. I will NEVER be returning to this bar in Newport and I would highly recommend visiting other bar in the area that appreciate their customers, as all these workers clearly have other priorities...
