The Pineapple Club — Restaurant in Newport

My husband and I stayed at the gurneys resort for our anniversary a couple of nights ago and decided to give pineapples a try! The food was good, view was insanely perfect and the atmosphere was right but our waitress, Olivia, was completely horrible. We sat down at 7 with zero greetings or assistance until 7:22. She casually walked over with no acknowledgement of our wait time and somehow managed to seem blatantly upset at us the entire dinner. Every time we asked for anything (check, credit card, drinks) it was literally a solid 20 minute wait full of attitude. She was straight up rude. The restaurant was not busy so there was no reason we could see for such terrible service. Wouldn’t mind going back for a drink but would absolutely not stay if she was our waitress...

They were able to accommodate me on a busy weekend, even let me choose my seat even though I was alone and they had people continuing to arrive. The hostess and waitress were friendly, the food was delicious (pesto shrimp pizza), the view was nice as it's right on the water, and I chose a table that allowed me to see it properly. The band I was particularly happy about- I thought they were fantastic- they played early rock n roll, and I wish I asked their name.

So much potential to be one of Newports best... sadly, the $18 burger or $19 chicken sandwich is on par with an elementary school cafeteria lunch.
