We saw Cappadocia Mediterranean Grill while driving down Waukegan Road and after looking at their website, we decided to give it a try as we had never had Turkish food before. We appreciated that their website had pictures of all their food. It is in a strip mall that is not particularly attractive.
The restaurant itself has a very welcoming entrance and while the dining room is very plainly decorated it was very clean. Our waiter was very friendly and was taking care of the entire dining room from seating people, taking orders, bringing out food and drinks and clearing tables.
The food was overall excellent. The Greek salad was very fresh and tasty. The grape leaves were also excellent. The standout for us were the turkish style hummus, eggplant dip and ezme with their delicious home baked bread that was perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. This has to be our new favorite hummus. We got the vegetarian sampler that had all the above dips and falafel. The falafel were good sized and crispy on the outside but the crispy layer was quite thick with very little fluffy interior and we thought they were a bit greasier than we would have liked.
We also got the chicken doner wrap made with chicken thighs. This was surprisingly my least favorite dish of the night. The chicken was well cooked and juicy but the flavor profile was not my favorite. I would prefer chicken shawarma from Pita Inn over this. I will definitely have to try some of their other protein options as the lamb options looked excellent.
For dessert, we were given a complimentary Kazandibi - a Turkish custard with walnuts and served with ice cream. It was excellent and a perfect way to end the meal.
With good food and excellent customer service, we will...
Read moreCappadocia Mediterranean Grill is an absolute gem for lovers of authentic Turkish cuisine! Our family dined here recently, and every single dish was a delightful experience. We started with the Tripe Soup, and it was phenomenal—rich, hearty, and bursting with authentic Turkish flavors. The Pink Sultan appetizer was a creative and flavorful addition that set the tone for the rest of the meal.
For the main course, we ordered the Mix Grill, which was perfectly cooked, juicy, and flavorful. The Adana Kebab was a hit with our daughters (aged 8 and 5), who couldn’t get enough of it, and our high-school-aged son thoroughly enjoyed every bite. My wife and I loved the variety of meats, the freshness of the ingredients, and the impeccable seasoning.
The fresh bread was an absolute standout—soft, warm, and just the right complement to the kebabs and appetizers. Beyond the exceptional food, the cozy atmosphere and friendly, attentive service truly elevated the experience. The prices are very reasonable for the quality and portions served.
