TL;DR: Recommended. Try them out. They are new and nice.
Introduction: An's Kitchen is a new restaurant situated where Pho Ga Tony used to be, in the Hong Kong Market shopping mall.
Service (4/5): The service was commendable with an attentive waiter, likely the owner himself. Though I had to seek attention for the check, it wasn't a major inconvenience. He was friendly.
Taste (3/5): Opting for the South Vietnamese style cơm phần. Their com phan only had a soup and an entree, so I ordered an egg roll as well. I found the catfish to be significantly overcooked. The canh chua didn't quite meet expectations, possibly due to the addition of basil. The broth leaned towards being overly sweet and lacked the desired sourness. The egg roll was also overdone. Despite these shortcomings, it's evident that the restaurant puts in considerable effort, and I anticipate improvements in quality. I look forward to trying their Bun Dau Mam Tom and Ga La Gang in the future.
Value (3/5): While $35 for two dishes isn't unreasonable, those seeking better value might find Nam Phuong, located nearby, to be a preferable option. Nam Phuong offers a family meal priced at $45, which includes three dishes and an appetizer.
Vibe (5/5): An's Kitchen offers a perfect setting for casual hangouts. The ambiance is pleasant, clean, and modern. However, it's more suitable for smaller groups due to limited seating. The restaurant features two large tables, accommodating approximately 5-8 seats each, while the booths can comfortably seat 4-5 individuals.
Nitpicks: The name hasn't been updated in the credit card machine, which may cause confusion when charges appear under a different name. This is a common issue for new businesses, please don't charge back if you see a strange name on your statement. The fish sauce served with the canh chua was served in a saucer, which isn't ideal for those who prefer soaking their fish sauce rather than dipping. While not a major issue, it's worth noting. When I eat canh chua, the first thing I do is scoup out the fish and put it on a big plate with fish sauce. I like my fish salty, and the plate makes it easier to get the meat without the bones. Overall, An's Kitchen shows promise, and with time, I believe they will refine their offerings and provide an even better...
Read moreOur family had a terrible experience here. Our child ordered Pho Tai Nam ( beef noodle)but both the rare and well-done beef were tough and impossible to chew — we tried it ourselves and couldn’t bite through it. “It was honestly so bad we couldn’t even finish it. The Hu Tieu was bland and tasted nothing like Hu Tieu. My wife and I ordered Bun Mam and Bun Cha Hanoi. We placed our order at 12:06 and by 12:46 we still hadn’t gotten our food. We called the server over to complain, but they didn’t respond at all, so we canceled our order. The place was nearly empty, yet we still waited 40 minutes — that’s unacceptable. As we were about to leave, we spoke directly to the owner about the long wait, but the owner walked away without a word. It’s the first time we’ve come across a Vietnamese restaurant with food and service this bad in the Norcross area. The restaurant is located next to Nam Phuong restaurant. “Everyone should reconsider before dining at this...
Read moreIf you crave mom’s cooking but don’t feel like making it, this is the place for you. We ordered clay pot caramelized fish, lotus chicken salad, stir fried water spinach and bun dau mam tom. We loved everything we ordered here. Surprisingly, bun dau mam tom was my most favorite lol. I don’t even like the “stinky” sauce, but their sauce was pretty good. The water spinach was a bit pricey but it was fresh and yummy so it’s sure worth the money for me. Their sugarcane drink was so fresh and good and their tamarind drink was really good too. They weren’t too sweet. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The price can be a tad higher than other restaurants but it’s definitely...
