We went on a business lunch as a large party. The hostess was friendly. She was able to seat us within a minute of our arrival. We were seated in the front room with the barn doors. You could see the trains go by. It is a nice size room for a private gathering. It was cool in the room. They had a heater on the floor to help warm up the room. The waitress also said she turned the thermostat up. For those of us on the far end of the table, the room never seemed to heat up.
We ordered sampler plates, extra fried green tomatoes, and mushrooms as appetizers. All of those were good. At first I heard good things about some people's entrees. I later learned that some people were disappointed with their food. The NYS steaks, ribeye steaks, loaded potatoes, fried shrimp, brussell sprouts and the sheppard's pie were good. Unfortunately, a cesar salad was returned as one didn't like the taste of the cesar dressing. Two people said their food was cold and they actually rcvd their food first. Some of the chkn tenders were overcooked. The salmon portions were on the smaller side. Some of the glasses weren't as clean. Some new glassware would be great.
We weren't asked how our food was and if we needed anything. I did hear her ask a separate party of two across the way. The waitress would come and occasionally remove plates and refill beverages. We had to ask for extra napkins, straws, take out containers and bags. At times, she would return with a singular item requested. i.e. napkin and steak sauce. IMO, those were moments when she could've asked if anyone else needed anything. At one point, she threw straws on the table when one was requested versus handing it to me. When the salad was given back, no one asked what was wrong with it and if they would like something else. At one point she actually rolled her eyes. It was seen by several people. When things were addressed later, she had a response for everything.
The manager Michael was pleasant. He apologized for the service. Explained they were down a person. He asked if there was something he could do. I told him we needed bags and we were getting ready to leave. It would've been nice if he proactively offered complimentary dessert or to take something off our bill. He was the same person that I spoke to when I made the reservation. Initially, on a different call, I was told that I had to send an email as the schedule didn't go out as far as my date. I never rcvd a reply to the email and it was not returned as undeliverable. I had to call a second time to secure the reservation.
Overall, the experience with The Crossing did not make our group...
Read moreI had an overall exciting experience at this establishment . There were some highs and lows which is to be expected anytime you try a new restaurant . First I will say , this restaurant is very family friendly , reasonably priced and in a prime time downtown Norcross location . On a warm night there’s outside seating . There is a handicap wrap for wheelchairs so all is welcome . There was a stage for live band (Check restaurant for band times ). We came with a party of 11 to celebrate a few birthdays in my family . Our server Noah was pretty steady in the beginning , as the tables picked up we started to see him slightly less . Which can be slightly frustrating . The menu has a plethora of items to choose from . We started off with appetizers . The spinach dip was flavored well The fried green tomatoes were A hit (very crispy & well seasoned ) ‼️The loaded baked potato soup was good as well , the nachos were soggy(according to the person who order them ) , and the Caesar salad was as expected but could’ve used a touch more dressing . The portions for our entrees were of average size and filling. I enjoyed the ribeye steak . There should be rice added to the menu , because all of the meals only had some type of potato or a vegetable as an option . I feel as though my baked sweet potato could’ve been cooked maybe 20 mins more . Slightly hard in the middle . The macaroni noodles were hard as well. Also as a bonus the train rode right by us , which was exciting and unexpected to see . I would return to this restaurant . I enjoyed the liveliness and my...
Read moreWent to the Crossing for the first time today with my wife. My wife ordered a filet, medium, along with some grilled onions.
The server brought sautéed mushrooms, and her steak was between medium-well and well. She let him know that she ordered onions rather than mushrooms, and he picked it up and tried to turn away without a word, and she proceeded to inform him that the steak was overcooked. He pointed to the steak, rolled his eyes and sighed, and walked away. No words. He then came back and said he would take that steak and will have another "in a couple of minutes."
While waiting on the steak, he refilled our waters and set them down rather aggressively.
When he brought out the steak and onions, he basically dropped it on the table and walked away with no words again.
This steak was rare. Dark red. Cold center. These filets are not thick either. It felt as if either the server or the cooks or both had decided to undercook her steak completely.
When the server came back, we informed him the steak was rare, but we would take boxes and cook the steak ourselves. He brought only one box for both of us.
I would like to say that my wife was nothing but kind and respectful to him. She is currently a server and bartender, so she knows how to treat a restaurant staff. She was even apologetic about the steak, as if it were her fault that the thin filet was overcooked.
Our ticket had no discount, but we still tipped over 25% to our server. We have never felt more disrespected by a server. John T was rude and disrespectful.
We will...
