Applebee's Grill + Bar — Restaurant in Norfolk

The food was really good but the waitress was very very very very lazy. It appears that she had an attitude when she walked up to the table and seemed annoyed that we had ordered cocktails and regular soda. We asked for a cherry Pepsi and she said they didn’t have cherry Pepsi but when I mentioned that they could just put a little grenadine from the bar in it she absolutely had no clue what I was talking about so my daughter’s birthday cherry Pepsi just couldn’t be handled. She ended up just getting a regular Pepsi. When I had finished my first cocktail I was ready for a refill but she was nowhere to be found and then my boyfriend finished his drink and she was nowhere to be found and then when the food was delivered we finally got a chance to ask for a refill and It still took another 15-29 minutes to get there. I work as a server myself so I understand when things are busy ,service is a little bit slow but it was definitely not busy and we were literally one of the only tables she had. In addition to my meal I had also ordered a side salad as a starter and it was brought out with my meal which is really no big deal but by that point I really just wanted to eat my meal and didn’t want to juggle eating a salad and my regular food. I was going To send my salad back because I wanted it as an appetizer but I figured since she was so annoyed that it would’ve just ben more trouble than what it was worth so I asked for a box to pack that up as well.

The food was really good but definitely the wait staff or maybe the particular one that I had needs a little bit more training in sense of urgency. They should be trained to not walk up to a Four Top Rolling her eyes and acting irritated like I was interrupting something they were doing. This Applebee’s used to be one of my go to spots and I thought I would give it another chance. My daughter really looks forward to coming here on her birthday and this is the restaurant she requested so I was extremely disappointed in the service and not the food I hope that that can be improved on in the future so that way other people celebrating can have a much better...

I have only eaten in the restaurant a few times. One time during the day at the bar I had the salmon with mashed potato's. It was excellent the server was awesome and the bartender was super funny and energetic. I came back again and the manager had me try out a variety of meals on their menu for me to enjoy. I did eat what I could and asked her to make sure whatever I didn't touch went to the staff if they were hungry. I had the quesadilla burger it was almost everything I hoped for. I wasn't sure exactly what to expect but they nailed it. I had the cheese waffle fries. They weren't seasoned but they were decent. I had Mozzarella sticks with something I can't remember at the moment I seasoned it and displayed it a way I thought might look enticing. I was grateful for the opportunity to be in that position without asking for it. The manager Erin Smith who made that happen was actually really incredible. She made sure I was taken care of. She was exhausted and overwhelmed but she continues to be a reason I return to support the restaurant. I am/was always a lover of going out to eat. There was another day I ordered food togo and it was the 2x26(?) deal. It is the best deal if youre on a budget or want to have an affordable date. I tried saving food for my girlfriend myself but she was working and didnt get to try her meal i got for us. I was upset because it was an incredible deal, hopefully ill get to try again. Another time I tried out the tacos and chips thanks to the manager Erin and they were simply delicious, taco can be easy to make but the seasoning was balanced and the white queso dip was the perfect accompanment. Supporting various businesses is a favorite of mine. I hope to return whenever I can to support and help bring people together over a meal if they are looking for one, this Applebees is definitely a place to hangout and eat!
