I knew what I was getting myself into by the way the lemon was giving unlimited juice when I squeezed it. My boyfriend and I are just here visiting from Jersey, and we love to try new places and giving our honest review. This place was defiantly worth the visit and for anyone reading this, please just go, I promise you wont be disappointed.

We tried a lot of different things and we would love to share our thoughts on them-

(apps) Dublin Poutine: fries were absolutely amazing, it tasted like it was so fresh. Plus the gravy had amazing flavor but it wasn't as heavy as we thought it was going to be and the mozzarella on top was just the perfect amount. Honestly we were sad when we finished because it was just so good.

Chicken Goujons: Chicken tasted so fresh and lightly fried. It wasn't oily at all and the chicken was still so juicy. And the dipping it came with tasted like it was homemade and the flavors blended so nicely.

Sausage Rolls: The sausage was just as soft as the puff pastry around it, and was just the right amount of flaky (again not oily or greasy so this was a huge plus).

(Main dishes) Fish sandwich: Fish was very light and even with the beet batter, the sandwich was still very light and I very much enjoyed that. The sauce too was very flavorful and added to the overall taste.

Caesar salad: Every Caesar I've had is usually covered in dressing causing the lattice to become soggy, thank god this wasn't the case. They put just the perfect light amount of dressing, that even after I waited to start eating it, it was still crunchy and fresh.

Pork tenderloin with mashed potatoes: Sauce was too die for, and pork was so tender it didn't need a knife. Baked beans had amazing taste, and mashed potatoes were very buttery, very well seasoned, and great texture.

(drinks) Tree notch- This is something new that we tried, but so glad that we did. This was a mango beer and to quote my boy friend "tasted like I was biting into a mango".

Guinness- ....I mean do I need to say anymore? I think we all know the answer to this one. Irish pub= always a good guiness

Now just a shout out to all the workers there, they were all so welcoming and helped us feel like we were a guest in someone's house. We even asked our waitress what things we could do around and a few others pitched in the conversation and we really do appreciate that.

Also wanted to mention our waitress Destiny! She was so friendly and amazing! She made us feel so comfortable and helped us with any questions we had, and even went out of her way. We did go the day before as well but unfortutally we didn't get her name, but she was equally as amazing! She asked one of the chefs in front of us to check on something that may of had an allergy in it.

Overall experience 1000/10, and next time we come to visit we will defiantly make a point to...

My wife and I stop by every once in a while for the trivia nights and live music. The food is always excellent and the atmosphere is very lively. We usually have a blast and really enjoy our time spent here over the years.

This last round, however, we had a rough go of it. We were a walk-in and were asked by the host if we had a reservation. We told him no and then he stated there was no seating available at all except for the bar area. I was surprised we weren't even given a wait time... this was very uncharacteristic of the establishment, even on trivia and live music nights.

We chose to sit in the bar area and waited for our waitress. Nothing for roughly 15-20 minutes. When she did arrive we were ready to order our regular food and drinks, so we didn't need a menu. My wife ordered a beer, which never came, no refills were given for our waters or my soda.

The food came quickly after we ordered and was great. She came to check on us and we told her to remove my wife's beer from our order because we never recieved it. After finishing our meals, I asked for the check... then she never returned to us again.

We waited over an hour and she never stopped by while we were waiting for the check. We noticed that she sat down at another table and was chatting/laughing with them for over 20 minutes. We contacted another employee and let him know she hadn't return with our check and were just looking to pay our bill and leave. Twenty more minutes go by... nothing. Other tables started talking about their frustrations and said the computer was down. I mean everyone has bad days but not telling your guests there is a delay was pretty unprofessional. The only way the other guests found out was by literally going to the table she was sitting at/chatting with and asking her what was going on.

We asked for the manager and he eventually came and explained the situation with the computers and cashed us out.

We were there for over 3 hours in total for which the majority of it was due to poor communication between the staff and guest abandonment. We get that difficulties arise but the part that made it incredibly frustrating was the blatant ignoring of us, even after we had asked for help multiple times. We weren't rude to our server, didn't speak out negatively to employees or lash out for our frustrations in anyway.

We will still come to the establishment but we hope our comments in this review will help improve future guest and...

Came to eat dinner with my family, Service non existent, no one at the table got water and my girlfriend who doesn’t drink, didn’t get water until after entrees came, so she was just twiddling her thumbs. Whoever the server was walked by a maybe few times but we must have been invisible. Saw her wiping other empty tables, sitting and folding silverware, but I guess forgot she had tables. We were going to have more drinks and dessert, etc but we had just wanted to go, had to flag multiple people even for the check. Should have ordered to go. Someone that acted like a manager who was very warm upon arrival, then sat at the host stand and watched us the whole time as he sat us next to the front door. When we voiced that dinner took almost an hour, he said would talk to the kitchen and come back to let us know what happened as to what went wrong, with us getting food almost an hour after arriving on a night that no one was eating. Same guy said absolutely nothing as to what the massive f up was, but a happy thanksgiving as we were walking out the door, extremely disingenuous, won’t be back. Tried to get some explanations or even a bit of consideration before posting here but no attempt was even made. Just any excuse would suffice but it was just sad and really aggravating. Some of the worst dinner service I’ve ever seen. I get it’s an Irish bar, but an apology or even a five dollar dessert would have fixed it, it wasn’t busy and it’s not that hard to check on a table and make sure they at least don’t leave unhappy to come to leave a review online. That’s restaurant 101,...

This was my first visit to Grace O’Malley’s. I wanted to have a Guinness and try their fish and chips. The Guinness was great, as was the bartender service. The bar/restaurant is very nice and has that “Irish” Public House flavor. Now to the food flavor. Not good. The regular size fish and chips was too much food for just me, so I opted for the senior (“kid’s) portion. Quantity-wise, that was a good move and I appreciate an establishment that recognizes senior eating habits are different than younger folks. Let’s talk chips first….they were warm and that’s about all the good I can say for them. They were rubbery (not crisp) indicating they may be old and reheated. As for the fish, maybe the adult version was better but, although my two pieces “looked” delicious, they were anything but. The outer breading layer was crunchy but that’s where it ended. The breading below the outer crust was thick, pasty and under cooked. The fish also appeared and tasted undercooked because it was still translucent, watery, and not very flakey. The fish gave me the impression that it is bought prepared, delivered frozen, and just deep fried in the kitchen. I did NOT get the impression that it was fresh fish and hand battered on site. Having said all that, will I come back…of course. One sample does not a pub make. I’ll be interested to see if the “adult” size fish and chips is the same fish and breading as the “kid’s” size. I do know that the Guinness will be fantastic.

With all the hype surrounding this place, I expected a great experience. Instead, everything was a letdown. We were seated quickly, but then didn't even have our waiter take our drink order for nearly 30 minutes. After getting our drinks, which were painfully slow arriving, it was another 30 minutes to put in our food order. We both ordered the corned beef and cabbage. When it arrived yet another 30-40 minutes later, we didn't even have silverware yet. We waited 10 minutes with our food getting cold to finally get silverware. The cabbage was so undercooked that it couldn't even be cut with a knife, which we demonstrated to the waiter. The potatoes were black, which we also showed him. I don't mean black from cooking too long, I mean they were spoiled. I cook in a restaurant full time, and our motto is never serve a customer something we wouldn't eat ourselves. It's a shame that a okace that pretends to be of a higher class would have so little sekf respect that they'd serve this garbage. The corned beef was dry, everything had no flavor, and it was a total waste of money. When we made it clear we weren't pleased and showed the valid reasons why, our waiter shrugged his shoulders and that's all we got. Total disappointment. The only positive was the live entertainment, which was top notch. But don't waste your money coming here expecting a good meal, you'll be ket down.

Now our family has a tradition where we go out to eat the 1st day of school to celebrate. Each year we take off and try to figure out where to go. This year Grace O'Malley's Irish Pub in Norfolk. I was kind of nervous because I didn't know what to expect. 8 of us went and not one complaint about the food or service. Our food did take a while to come but we chalked it up to the number of meals ordered and just enjoyed the scenery of old memorabilia on the walls and lost ourselves in deep conversation. The food came out hot, fresh and delicious. Each entree looked as good as the next and we constantly said "I should have ordered that" simply based on the look of the meal. When we began to dine, oh my goodness. The flavors and freshness of the meals were amazing. Leading us all to say we'll come back. We went for lunch and it was fairly quiet so we're going back at night because they have live music. They also have a happy hour. If you're looking for something different to please every palate give Grace O'Malley's a try, they won't disappoint. Thanks cuz (John Lewis) for the recommendation.
