We were visiting the outlets from Richmond, VA and decided to stop here to eat. We eat at Plaza all the time back home. ALL THE TIME.
The server came right over after we were seated. We ordered our usual frozen strawberry/mango margarita. My sister and I ordered the jumbo and my mother ordered a small. The server turned around and immediately put our drink order in. She never once checked our ID so I thought that was a bit strange because Plaza is very serious about checking IDs. They always check back home but whatever maybe we looked really old so we were like ok. The server comes back about 10 mins later with our "margaritas" in a MARTINI glass. I use to bartend so I know for sure you do not put a margarita in a MARTINI glass. That doesn't even make sense. She hands us our drinks and we all have the same size martini glasses. Then she goes "oh sorry this is yours (my mothers) you order the small". All three MARTINI glasses are the same size with the same amount in them. We just shook our head and placed our order. I ordered the cheese dip as an appetizer and entrees. We begin to drink our margaritas and they are horrible. Literally tastes like water. We took about 3 more sips and confirmed there was no alcohol in them. I figured she put in a virgin drink for us considering she never checked our ID. I flagged her down and asked if these were virgin drinks. She stated they had alcohol in them. I told her there is no way it has any alcohol in them. She apologized and asked if we wanted to keep them. We told her she could take them back and we will just stick to our water. About 5 mins later our food came out. My order was the only order that was put in correctly. My mother order had extra stuff she didn't want but she kept it and made due. However my sister ordered the ground beef nachos which is only ground beef, chips, and cheese. They brought out the nachos supreme which had lettuce, tomatoes, and sour cream. None of which she eats. So we had to send her food back and the waitresses asked AGAIN what she wanted on them. At this point we realize we never got the cheese dip. We already had out food so we at this point we just want to eat and leave. About 3 mins later my sister's food comes out and it's finally right. About 5 mins later our server brings out our cheese dip that was suppose to be an appetizer. We decided to keep it and just eat it. We didn't want to send anything back. As we are eating our server brings ANOTHER round of margaritas saying they fixed them. sigh ok let's just give it another try considering they were nice enough to make them over. This time we could taste a little of the alcohol and that's when I figured out.... it was RUM! They were actually making strawberry daiquiris instead of margaritas. The daiquiris weren't even good. We tried to drink them but they were horrible. We didn't even take 5 sips. She took them back and we told her we didn't want them. Our food was not even good. No seasoning and the meat was very dry. We ask for the check and the server immediately gives us the check. We review our check and the margaritas are still on our bill. At this point we ask for the manager. I see the server go and tell the manager we want to speak with her and I watch her go and grab another server and tell them to come and speak with us. So the "manager" comes over and we tell him everything that has been going on. They overcharged us for my sisters food saying the ground beef nachos and nacho supreme is the same price. Sir...no it's not. We go to plenty Plazas and know there is a difference on the price but whatever the nachos is the last of my worries. I tell him about the horrible drinks and ask why we are being charged for drinks we didn't drink. He said he would take care of it. He takes the drinks off and adjust the price for the nachos. We pay and then I let him know we asked for the manager and we don't appreciate her not coming to our table to address the issues. He apologize and stated the manager was busy. Sure... as I watch her watch college football. Overall...

Let me be blunt, this place is full of gimmicks to get people to believe it’s high end. The robot food carriers, the over garnished drinks (and I mean WAY OVER), and the fact that every single employee has a radio with an ear piece( that they don’t even use effectively)
I went in there with my daughter and was offered a large booth fit for a party of 8. I asked if I could be seated in a spot better suited to the number in my party as well as a good spot for the stroller I had. The hostess told me to wander and find where I wanted. He should know the restaurant and already have a good place in mind. Further more I hate when restaurants don’t use their brains about table assignments, just because that server is next. No , use your head and make the right decision, putting a two top at an eight causing a wait for the next eight top that comes in could loose you business. Make the waiter adapt to the situation. Also no high chair was available for my daughter. Long story shot the hostess failed by being on his phone playing a game first thing when I walked in.
I ordered a michelada, a water, and an apple juice for my daughter. The water and juice took 11 mins and the Michelada took 16. My daughters juice came in an adult size medium to go cup, not ideal. If things spill generally we want them to be small amounts. No the Michelada, this thing came out looking like senor frogs made it. Large margarita style “bowl” glass with pineapple, watermelon and shrimp on a skewer and a beer turned upside down in it. I asked the waiter if this is what they call a regular michelada. Every place on the plank have ever ordered one it was a beer with clamato and others small flavors added in. Not some art offering to the fruit gods. I asked him again if this is a regular chelada to which he tried to educate me on what a “Mexican Chelada” is. I took the skew off and threw it on the plate this thing came on. Yes! A plate. I tried the drink and it was watered down beyond belief. Zero stars for an 18$ beer.
The food is ok. My chips were stale and my carne asada enchilada had way too much cinnamon in the marinade. i felt like a gingerbread man punched me in the throat. The rest of my food was good, no great, not anything to tell anyone about.
My bill was $48.12 which seemed reasonable for a gimmick restaurant trying to emulate senor frogs. To the managers, your servers look extraordinarily lazy when they use those god awful “cat plate carrier serving” robots for just one or two plates. For a few moments I felt like I was in Japan listening to...
Read moreI went in there with a friend after work on 1/9/23. When I first walked in we stood at the front waiting to be seated for a while. It wasn't much people in there so when someone finally approached us to be seated he stated everyone called out of work and he has no workers on duty. That should've been a red flag to leave bc I now know he is the problem and the reason why everyone called out with his poor attitude. However, when we sat down he quickly came out with complimentary chips and salsa. I informed him our chips and dip was frozen like he just took them out the fridge, it was extremely cold. He said, that's the way it always come. I told him for years I've eaten at Mexican restaurants and the chips and salsa comes warm never frozen cold he shrugged his shoulders and said no. I knew I wasn't staying or ordering food at that point due to the back and forth and standoffish behavior. I work hard for my money and will not tolerate mistreatment as a paying customer. We made plans to find somewhere else to eat. I contacted the Haygood Plaza Azteca to see if they had any workers and they laughed at the matter already aware this location is a nightmare. The worker was running the bar and waiting tables so there was no attentive service and upon walking out he became upset running towards us saying we owe him for the free complimentary chips and dip we never asked for. I told him he losing our business and we will not be ordering anything from the menu due to his attitude and lack of service. He printed out a bogus receipt to try to make us pay for something we didn't order or request. His fault we are leaving now he trying to play evil games charging us for free items we never asked for in the first place and was something we complained about. I will not be back to this establishment until they get their poor conduct in order. You can't mistreat a customer and expect them to give you business and force us with a fake bill out of spite is corruption! And unethically! You lack workers bc management is terrible and you will soon lack customers as well if the attitude...
