We were visiting the Virginia Beach area and did not really know what to expect from this restaurant. When we walked in we were immediately greeted by the host and quickly seated. We came in at an off hour so it was not too crowded. The facility appear to be very clean and well kept. The decor was inviting. They rapidly provided us with water and gave us a few minutes to peruse The Fairly extensive menu. We decided on the pad thai and the green curry. We also decided on the appetizer combo. I ordered a Thai beer which they brought out with a chilled can and a Frosted Mug which was a nice touch. The appetizers were delicious. They were crisp when they were supposed to be crisp they were full and succulent when they were supposed to be that way and every single item was full of flavor. The entrées themselves soon followed and were quite large. We had underestimated how large the serving sizes would be. The Pad Thai was tasty and not overly sweet or salty. It was perfectly seasoned in my opinion and we had requested hot which was appropriate level of spiciness for us. The green curry was similarly and very delicious and well seasoned period I'm going to Thai places seem to overdo it but this one was well done and full of flavor yet not hitting you over the head with it. Again the portions were large and we ended up taking at least half of both items home because we were so full. When we did eat the doggy bag portions at home 2 days later, both items were just as tasty. Highly I highly recommend this place as you will get excellent service and...
Read moreEarlier today, my husband and I mutually agreed to order some food from Sawasdee Thai Cuisine (the Virginia Beach boulevard Military Highway Norfolk Virginia location) via grubhub. The driver had a pleasant friendly demeanor and delivered our food in a very reasonable timeframe. My husband enjoyed his Massaman curry dish and allowed me to have some bites of this dish which I can easily understand why he liked this curry dish. We both shared and enjoyed some potstickers. I found the tropical fried rice dish to be extremely yummy (which is listed on their online menu to come with wok fried jasmine rice with shrimp chicken egg pineapple raisins onions and cashew). I admit that I felt both that the portions of the tropical fried rice I received were very generous and the mix of raisins and pineapples greatly enhanced the dish. Much to my pleasant surprise, there was more than enough of the generous portion amount of Tropical Fried Rice to save for my hubby to consume for another day because the amount I received can easily feed at least 2 people. The chocolate mousse cake had the perfect mix of moistness and sweetness. Overal I am glad both that my husband enjoyed his food and I felt that ordering from their today definitely was worth the money (with gratitude intent, I feel lucky to have been able to pay for the food with money made from my current place of...
Read moreFYI, they are renovating, and there is an off-putting smell right as you walk in/in the restrooms. Once the renovation is done, I think they'll be an amazing dine in location. For our visit, the service was great, which is why I am still rating them very highly. A customer who was there before us said she saw a bug, but I didn't see anything 🤷🏻♀️
Onto the review: The service was great. Our waitress was polite and attentive. She knew the menu very well and helped us make selections. We got the black sticky rice as a substitute for regular white rice with mango. It was very good, and the mango was fresh. We also got a mango salad, which was something I had never heard of before. It was interesting. The two shrimp on top were huge! I always get papaya salad, and theirs was delicious. We got Thai dumplings, my partner liked the filling and I really liked the dipping sauce. We also got the drunken noodles, and while they were a bit sweet for my liking, they were still pretty good.
Overall, I really liked this place. Everything was fresh and tasted good. I can't wait to see what they look like...
