Visit on May 13, 2020 at 10:45 p.m. at your Norfolk, Virginia location on North Military Highway. I was greeted by the drive thru teller (a woman) and then was immediately informed that they could only accept cash payments; understandable, things happen. I gave the suggestion to maybe place a sign at the beginning of the drive thru to let customers know that this method would be the only method of payment that could be accepted as to not be stuck in (the very slow moving) drive thru as my family and I were due to the cars ahead. A male then comes on the speaker and I was returned with a sarcastic rude response of, "this is not Chic-Fil-A, we don't stand outside and hold signs." Unacceptable! If I were rude in my deposition, that would be one thing. But to give such a rude, disrespectful, and unprofessional response is beyond. To make matters worse, none of the visible employees were wearing masks or gloves. I have patronized Cookout since my early college days in North Carolina and was elated to hear that they would be coming to the Hampton Roads area about 7 years ago. Though my business is just of one, I refuse to pay money to an establishment that treats customers as though they mean nothing. Also, the employees should be more that willing to accept honest and respectful advice and criticism; that is a part of customer service. I am highly disappointed and I would hope that...
Read moreGone here several times. This location in specific, the employees are rude, ghetto, and just plain disrespectful. They are always too busy chatting with each other to be bothered with taking orders. Went this evening and girl asked what I wanted. I stated it. Silence for 30 seconds. She then came back asked me what I wanted again, I repeated, silence for over a minute. Then asked me a third time “sorry can you say that again. So I again repeated myself. This time frustratingly. (Keep in mind you can see her laughing and chatting away at the window). Then takes 3 entire minutes to give me my total. I then pull up to the window and her and another girl chilling at the window just laughing and chatting away then proceed to hand me an order that is not even my order. I hand it back saying it’s not my order and tell her what I got and she proceeded to tell me “no you didn’t order that, you ordered this”. No ma’am, I didn’t. This is not my order, I ordered this. Then proceeds to ask me if I’m sure I ordered what I stated. Like ma’am, we literally just spoke 3 minutes ago. Maybe if you weren’t busy trying to avoid work and gossiping away with your friend, you would actually be able to properly do your job. Needless to say, this will be the last time I visit this location. Each time the employees seem to get...
Read moreI am a big fan of this place. I have never had any problems with my order being wrong and they are usually pretty quick.
As far as the food goes, I love the taste of the burgers, hot dogs, and grilled chicken. You can tell they actually grill it over charcoal. It tastes just like you had a cookout in your back yard. It is extremely affordable too. You can get a full "Cook Out Tray" meal for around $6. You get to choose one entree, two side items, and a drink. For the entree there are around 10 choices or so. Things like burgers, crispy chicken sandwiches, grilled chicken sandwiches, BBQ, hot dogs, chicken strips, etc. For the sides, they have many options as well. Fries, onion rings, bacon wrap, hush puppies. You can even get chicken nuggets as a side item! Keep in mind it will cost you a little more if you get things like cheese or bacon on your items like a burger or hot dog.
They have a huge selection of "milkshakes" though some of the ones with candy or other toppings mixed in are easier eaten with a spoon and I think of as more like a Blizzard or McFlurry type of dessert. They are all really good, but I especially love the Orange Push-Up flavor. It really tastes like a Flinstones...
