Finally!!!
I conducted a very unscientific experiment over the last few months, with what was my last fast food, guilty pleasure- Taco Bell! (Specifically during Nacho Fries season- the only Fries I now ever eat and am willing to waste calories on.)
I sadly thought I was going to give up that last guilty pleasure after sampling food from many of the Taco Bell's in the area over the last few months. 10 locations in 90 days and ONLY ONE of the 10 met, and even surpassed my expectations, of getting fresh, hot, and tasty food! The meal was PERFECT!!!! 😋
I am glad to end this "taco tour" on a high note, and the Newtown Rd location will be the only one I recommend to others, or choose to visit in the future, the next time I am craving my favorite "4th meal" (as it used to be called back in the day) although it is much more likely to be my first and only meal these days, with the combined constantly busy schedule of being a caregiver, and the economy making eating out a major expense, that I am giving up from my budget for the upcoming year.
Thank you, kitchen staff at 649 Newtown Rd Norfolk, VA Taco Bell for finally delivering what was the best Taco Bell food, not only in the last several months, but truthfully, in the last few decades!!! They blew everybody else out of the water!!!
Specifically, I had a small order of Nacho Fries (using the Nacho Fries Lover's pass offer) with hot Nacho cheese sauce to dip them in, a Mexican pizza (which was only my 2nd time trying it ever, and which I thought I would never get again, it was so terrible, soggy and cold the 1st time I got it.) And my last favorite- the Nacho Cheese Doritos Locos Taco Supreme!
As with every other order, I asked if they could please prepare my order fresh after I arrived, and to please drop a fresh batch of fries, so they would be the hot, crispy, perfectly seasoned indulgence worthy of all the oh so bad for me calories and "junk food" cravings that have become fewer and fewer as I have aged.
The Newtown Road location was the ONLY restaurant out of the 10 to prepare my entire order fresh, piping hot, and perfectly portioned, with condiments, drink, napkins, and sauce packets as requested, both in my app order, and when arriving to the restaurant.
It seemed like more than half of the T.B. location employees actually served older, COLDER food, and often prepared the items with substandard ingredients or haphazardly throwing them together, resulty in a soggy, dishelveled, often inedible mess- AFTER putting in a special request to prepare it fresh, the way I remembered most restaurants to be growing up, when eating out was a treat, just as it has become once again. Although I use the term "treat" lightly, since only ONE of 10 hit all the marks!!
And 2 others were just slightly redeemed when they offered to remake what was arguably the absolute worst delivery of what had been my favorite yearly treat of salty, cheesy goodness of fresh, hot, perfectly seasoned, slightly crispy outside, fluffy inside potato indulgence, dunked in wonderfully hot, drippy nacho cheese dunking sauce!
The remade fries at those two did eventually meet my expectations of receiving hot, fresh and crispy seasoned fries with a small condiment cup portion of perfectly tempered cheese sauce, while the other food items consistantly were served old, cold, often soggy, and barely edible!
So, THANK YOU Newtown Road TacoBell, for finally giving me the perfect meal to end my "local tour" to remind me what eating fast food out used to be like, back when employees cared about their customers, their jobs, and the products they served, and almost anyone could scrape together enough coins from under the sofa cushions or car floor and still get something yummy and satisfying to eat!...
Read moreI ordered 3 cheese roll ups with extra cheese and there was hardly any cheese. Mostly tortilla. I ordered a cheese quesadilla with extra cheese and it to was basically just tortilla. There was no ranch sauce on my hot ranch frys and the portion was half of what I received from a different location a few days prior. There was no chipotle sauce on two of the four potato soft tacos. About two weeks ago I went through the drive thru and placed an order and that time I ordered a fiesta burrito and hot ranch veggie frys and got two beefy five layer burritos. This location has jacked up my order EVERY TIME that I have gone there. I will not be returning to this location ever again which is disheartening because I just moved and this is the closest Taco Bell to my new home. I usually go to Taco Bell at least once a week but not anymore. I am highly dissatisfied and I will be sure to tell everyone about my experience. If I wanted tortillas for dinner I would’ve just opened up my refrigerator and fed my family tortillas that I purchased from the grocery store. The way this can be improved is if somebody orders extra something to actually give it to them and to put the proper ingredients on what is supposed to be on each item. Also giving them what they ordered and not mixing up their orders that would be great too! I Went through the drive-through about a week and a half ago at the same location and order a fiesta burrito and the Hot ranch veggie fries along with a handful of other items and I did not receive the fiesta burrito nor the hot ranch veggie fries. Instead I received two beefy five layer burritos. I also ordered a cheese quesadilla with no sauce and received a chicken quesadilla with sauce. I’m a vegetarian so this was a big fat waste of money. It seems that each time I visit this location they always seem to jack up my order. Overall I am extremely dissatisfied and will not be returning to this location EVER AGAIN! If I could give it no...
Read moreWow, just wow. To the crew, 5 stars, you were absolutely amazing. From the moment I walked it, you helped me decide what to order, with a great recommendation. Helped me place the order on the kiosk and prepared the food quickly and accurately. Smiled and were extremely friendly. You exceeded any expectations I had walking in, thank you. ❤️. Now, the reason for the 1 star review. Someone walked in and seemed like the manager, in an absolute rage, started to yell at the crew members in front of customers. Myself included. This man needs management lessons or to go to a leadership class. Zero professionalism. Walked in with flip flops on, screaming about crew not wearing the correct uniform items.... told someone to clock out he was done and said he was going to review the cameras later to make sure everyone stayed in uniform. Not sure what the uniform issue was; however, wow..... You have a great crew here being bullied by poor leadership. 😢. The crew even came to me after to ensure I was ok. The most important thing about working a place like this is the customer experience, up until this man walked in, my experience was extremely joyful. This was going to be a 5 star review. To the crew, please don't let the toxic leadership ruin your work ethic; you are my favorite crew of any fast food place I've visited in the country. Thank you for what you did for me, and I'm sorry for what you have...
