The only good things about this hotel were the nice rooms, the pool and it's location, everything else was less than desirable. The room itself was nice and had an updated, modern feel to it. The only negative I would have to say about the room is it did not have a hair dryer (after reading the pamphlets that were in the room, it appeared only the King-size rooms come with hair dryers not the 2-Double bed rooms which was the type of room I was staying in). The pool was a good size, set in the back of the hotel between both buildings with trees around the outside of the fence to create a bit of privacy from the parking lot. The location was great, right off the main highway making it extremely easy to find. Not far from places to eat, 15 minutes away from the Virginia Zoo, 20 minutes from the beaches. The location of the hotel was very convenient.
Now to the things that made my stay less than desirable. The night I arrived to check-in, I was instantly hit with the smell of garbage as I walked by the garbage can, indicating to me it had not been changed. There were stains on the ground near the stariwell that looked like garbage leaked out of the garbage bag due to a hole when it was set on the ground. This hotel is apparently pet friendly, which is nice for those who want to bring their pets with them, but as I walked to my room I walked by what looked like a pile of cat food on the ground. This pile of old cat food probably stayed there for about 4 days, indicating to me that housekeeping wasn't very observation or didn't care to clean it. I stayed at this hotel for 5 nights and my room never got cleaned by housekeeping (the housekeeping services card that was on the pillow said every third day the room would receive full service cleaning). I had to go down to the front desk everyday to ask for fresh towels and explain to them each time (because it was always someone different) that my room had not been cleaned. Each time I went down there is received different answers ranging from housekeeping starts their rounds at 10am, to if you have items on the bed housekeeping won't straighten the sheets or change them because they don't know if you want them to touch your belongings, to if your "privacy please" tag is on the door they won't clean the room, to we are behind schedule because we are shorthanded today. Every morning when I left the room I took the "privacy please" tag off the door. I was out of the room by 10am everyday and was gone for at least 8 hours, if not more, each day. The only belongings I had on the bed was my own personal pillow which I bring to any hotel I stay at and have always had the bed straightened/changed. It's not my fault you are shorthanded, maybe they should have started an hour earlier. The day I was told my room was definitely going to be cleaned was the fourth day I was there, needless to say my room never got cleaned that day. One day I had to go down to the front desk to ask for more toilet paper because we ran out due to the fact that our room hadn't been cleaned or restocked. It seems to me that there needs to be better training and retraining of the housekeeping staff because they are clearly not doing what they are being paid to do.
I'm paying to stay at your hotel, which includes receiving services such as housekeeping. After this experience I would not stay at the hotel again. I will probably think twice about staying at any Red Roof Inn for fear of receiving the same less than desirable housekeeping...
Read moreIf I could post a review with 0 stars I would!! First of all I didn’t expect luxury...it’s Red Roof Inn. Myself and 2 friends visited Virginia Beach for a concert and decided to stay an extra day to enjoy the beach. The rooms are dated but cleanliness didn’t really seem to be an issue. We were staying Friday to Sunday...2 nights. We woke up Sunday morning to BED BUGS crawling the pillows!!! We immediately shook out EVERYTHING, threw our belongings in the car and checked out. I went down to the front desk to speak to someone before I officially checked out and showed them the picture of what we saw. The manager was not in for me to talk to but I understood that...it was Sunday after all. I was informed that I would receive a call from the General Manager on the following day, Monday. Well I sent an email on the website to explain my issue, just in case the representative that I spoke to didn’t relay my message. I had to call back to speak to he manager. He didn’t apologize for my experience and he didn’t seem to care at all. He told me that I would hear from their Risk Management Department soon and to explain everything to them. I asked if he wanted me to send the pictures that I captured. He told me to wait to send them to Risk Management once they contact me. It is now Thursday and I have not heard from anyone. I was fortunate enough not to be bitten, but both of friends were!!! This has created a great level of anxiety as I am not sure none of them got into my belongings!!!! I frequently use Res Roof Inn as a budget friendly night’s stay, but this was my first and LAST time staying at this location. I honestly don’t know if I will stay at any Red Roof Inn EVER AGAIN!! Again, I contacted them about the Bed Bug issue as soon as we saw them (Sunday, July 15) and it is now Thursday, July 19th and no word from Risk Management. I spoke to the General Manager at this location and I advised my friends to also call him about the bites that they received. When they called, he was rude to them and told them that he would not speak to them because the reservation was not in their name...that he could only speak to me. His customer service sucks!!! By the way we stayed in room 217!! Don’t let them give you...
Read moreI’m updating my review. I’ve been here almost a year. Unfortunately I’ve had the pleasure of the wonderful hospitality by the employees. Trina always goes above and beyond for her customers. Robert is always pleasant on the weekends. Carlos is a wonderful person each and every night he always makes you feel welcome and treat you like a person, Miguel, Jeff, and the housekeepers and Georgia are always pleasant keeping things clean and tidy and always helpful to get you what you need now I have never had any issues with the place nor have they had any issues with me, I’ve always treated them with the upmost respect unfortunately today we ran into a issue with my phone that wouldn’t allow me to unlock my cash app card to be able to pay for the room we kindly did the best we could to pack all things up and get them out and clean the room the way we found it the best way we could to help the cleaning crew out until we figure out our money situation. Unfortunately, we were told we could wait until we, got the money situation figured out we had all our stuff and our pets outside in the cold when we finally were able to get the phone working to be able to pay for the room for the next two nights, we went in and was met with the rudest and upmost disrespectful employee. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting. Dominic is very unprofessional. He has music blaring in the office as soon as you come in he’s very rude in his own way. He does not try to go above and beyond he shows favoritism to other people and treats, the rest with no respect we were told by him that we were unable to get a room that we would have to talk to the manager the next day that she would not talk to us off the clock once we left I was charged by Redroof 75.79 luckily, the card was locked and was not able to be charged. I went back in to discuss the matter with Dominic and he was very rude. I am not the only one that has complained about his behavior and think that it should be addressed so further customers can enjoy the pleasant, stay at Redroof without having to be treated like that in anyway cameras they have in there will show everything and I even took recordings of how he acted. It is not the best way to be a...
