We used to love this place. Yesterday we stopped in for a fish n chips "fix". We were soooo disappointed in the meal we were served. First impression is that the portions looked very undersized on the plate. The fish was two blocks. Each block was about 1-1/2" x 1-1/2" square and about 3-1/2" long. There were about 20 fries. It looked kind of comical on the plate because the portions were so damn small. Also, the coleslaw was served in a tartar sauce cup. I would say there were maybe two tablespoons of coleslaw. Wow. But, back to the the fish. I picked up one fish block and there was a puddle of oil under it and the bottom of the fish block was soaked in oil and discolored from the oil. The middle of the fish was sopping wet, mushy, soggy and had the appearance of being under cooked. The outside of the fish was slightly overcooked. I asked the waitperson if they used frozen fish. She said no and that they pride themselves on excellent fish n chips. She asked what she could do and I asked for one more piece of fish. I was hoping the fish I got on my plate was an anomaly. The replacement fish block was identical to what I was served initially: overcooked exterior, under cooked inside, oily bottom.....terrible. I could not eat it In the past we have enjoyed excellent fish n chips at the NBBG. I know and they know they are way better than this. We were comp'd the meal, but that does not fix a flawed and terrible fish problem. I suggest the chef and the owner, if they care, make a trip to The Lockspot Tavern for the BEST FISH N CHIPS IN WASHINGTON. They do fish to perfection and the portions are amazing for 2 dollars less than NBBG. Also, the awful, terrible fish is listed at 16 on the menu. Total rip. I hope they try to fix this. Also, the waitress was excellent. Friday 5/17/19 at...
Read moreDisappointed to write this poor review. I have been going to NBB&G for many years and always taking friends and family after our adventures in the mountains near North Bend. The service is always solid. The food is outstanding. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Great bourbon and whiskey selections!! On Sunday January 9th, a group of us arrived around 1:15 pm. The place was lively and had several empty tables that needed to be cleaned and updated. The host, who I never saw before, told us it will be 15 minutes and asked if we can be seated at two tables. We agreed. Several parties of 4-6 people came after us and they were seated right away. I think it was almost 35 people total that arrived after us.
After 45 minutes of waiting and seeing other people get seated while our group waited, I headed to Iron Duck and was seated promptly.
I know it's hard to attract talent and reliable staff these days. Perhaps more training for this host would have prevented this situation. I hope management takes this feedback in good intention. Many thanks, and keep up the good work! ----updated---- I think the manager, Jessica, must be confusing me with someone else. I stood by the door the entire 45 minutes and did not move or engage in any conversations with others. Just my friend standing next to me. The entire time the host completely avoided me while seating all the groups that came after. As I indicated, we agreed to be seated at two different tables. Regardless, the host seated all other groups of 4-6 people and did not seat us. This all behind me now and I see where the problem is. All the best to you...
Read moreStopped on the way back from Spring skiing for an afternoon gorge, and an easy way for me to skip cooking dinner. Glad we did.
The quality has been consistent, even with the hardships small restaurants have faced over the last two years. Our server was pleasant and suggested other meals that may placate our desire for dinner entrees that were not available because we arrived before dinner service.
They still serve brunch until 4, so my daughter ordered French toast. It was loaded with fresh fruit.
From our last visit, I recommend (if you arrive before 4 p.m.) anything from the brunch menu for the kiddos. For the adults (it was 3 after all), I loved the pretzel loaf with the cheese sauce and mustard dip. If there is sauce left over from the pretzel, hold on to it as it will also come in handy for the fries that come with your sandwich later on.
I also highly recommend the wings. I get the sauce "on the side" so the wings stay crispy and I can control the heat. I like to mix the sauce with the blue cheese dressing that is obviously made in house.
Wife got the salmon quinoa salad and saved some for lunch at work. The salmon was awesome and I usually only like whitefish.
I got the prime rib dip. Really, really, hit the spot. I asked for grilled onions and they really amped up the sandwich. They still had enough bite in the onions to provide a little texture with the ciabatta bread. The horseradish sauce with fresh herbs and the au jus perfectly complimented the shaved mound of prime rib.
