The last few times I've been here, the dining room has been closed so it's online order, takeout or drive through only. Not a big deal anymore since I've come to expect not being able to dine in - even though there is a decent sized dining area. Kiosk order is simple enough for someone experienced. I got a mini chicken burrito which tasted good as usual, but had somehow exploded during the handoff from kitchen, and ranch erupted all over the bag, then again all over me when I took the first bite. This would have been a lot less frustrating had I been able to dine in, but instead there is ranch all over me and my car now. The most frustrating part of my experience today is the complete and total lack of aknowledgment from any of the 7 employees in the kitchen. When I walked in there were two guys standing directly behind the counter having a conversation, but for some reason they chose not to utter a word of welcome, or even make eye contact. Hospitality 101 is always greet your customer. This is an expensive era to live and dine in, and there's no reason that a full kitchen staff can't offer a hello, head nod, or even look that suggests that we are human-like beings worthy of spending our money at their place of work. Please do better and welcome...
Read moreWhen we got up to the counter it was a self serve kiosk. Neither of our credit or debit cards would complete the order, likely because they were from out of country, others had their orders before we could try to input our order for the fifth time. The tablet was set up properly and easy enough to use.
We could have easily paid cash if anybody would have acknowledged us. We tried to get somebody's attention but they were all too busy getting other orders completed and I really shouldn't have to cause a scene or raise my voice.
We were hungry and had been driving all day so we got back in the car, went through the drive through and ordered our food. I didn't want to eat messy food in the car and have it all over our clothes so we parked and went back inside to a table.
Overall it was a very frustrating experience . Staff seemed to have been instructed to ignore customers( no eye contact AT ALL) and force them to make their own orders. Of course when I needed a fork it made for a fun time. I should not feel I am intruding on their business ever. This is a horrendous business model to use in a restaurant.
At least on the very rare time I go to a McDonald's they have accessible staff that will accommodate you when there...
Read moreI generally try to avoid fast food chains, and I never review them because there's nothing to rave about.
Taco Time -- particularly the one here in North Bend -- is a bit different, however. It's my singular top choice for fast food. First, the food is always freshly -- but quickly -- made, with fresh local ingredients. The people are always pleasant and friendly even when they're slammed. And here's the thing: You don't always realize they're slammed because they are well-staffed, well-trained, and they keep the lines moving.
I didn't really grasp all this until I went inside one day. There was a long line of cars at the drive through, There was also a handful of people waiting in line inside. But the workers took and filled orders quickly and accurately, moving both inside and outside lines quickly. I realized, they had a good-sized staff taking care of everything. There was good communication and coordination. They clearly train people well, and they seem to treat them well, because they all seem happy.
That's also when I realized their commitment to recycling and composting as well as sourcing all their...
