For starters, I live in the immediate area of this location in Englewood and along with other members of Englewood’s community; I’ve been awaiting the opening of this location. However, this location leaves A LOT, to be desired. Now, I’ve yet to dine at their North Bergen location, but supposedly it’s supposed to be the best Italian food in NNJ. Well, if their Englewood location is any indication of that; I don’t see how that’s possible and question those and their pallets of whom have reviewed them as such. Firstly, when it comes to actually; dining at this location, this was my second time. Initially, I went to try it out with one person; where we both ordered a few glasses of their $20.00 per-glass of wine (recommendation by waiter) and although delicious; don’t know if it justifies NYC prices per-glass. Onto all the food that we ordered; we each ordered two salads too share, two appetizers, one pizza pie and two entrees and concluded with dessert specials. Overall, it was sub-par at best. The highlights of our meal were our wines, pizza and salads. Everything, else we ordered was either over or under seasoned or over or under cooked. Referring to both pasta and fish entree options we ordered. We actually wound up leaving a lot behind and that’s highly; unlike us as foodies who are constantly, trying new spots all over. Contrary to our overall dinner (food wise); their dessert specials were both, delicious. Our overall experience was hindered by the service (or lack there of); for example, our waiter who was less than sub-par at best, actually, wound up breaking during his shift and never even having the courtesy of making us aware of that. We actually had to seek out for another waiter who was working tables in our section of whom was night and day from our initial waiter (at least he made up for lost time), but what was most; distasteful, was when it came to our bill and our initial waiter just resurfaced out of no where... Not only that, but he actually was hounding us for it to be paid because it appeared that he was clocking out for the night and wanted to be paid beforehand. Extremely, tacky. Part 2 of my review: Yesterday evening, I gave this location a second try/chance, but this time it was with a larger party (6). For starters, the service was tragic. There’s no two ways about it. Myself, along with three other guests; waited up to a half hour for our drink orders to be taken and it appeared that the only reason why we got them; was because we also knew another guest dining at the bar to make whomever know about the situation at hand with our table. Finally, we get to ordering more drinks, etc. We were over charged by two additional drinks that were never ordered by any of us and an additional appetizer as well (waiter took care of issue), my appetizer-salad was good. Something I re-ordered from my first dining experience. Next, was my entree; a “Special,” of which was its own take on “Linguine with white clam sauce,” but infused with cherry tomatoes. It was good, but not great. Especially, not for a “Special.” Lastly, dessert; apparently the owner was generous enough to put together a dessert platter for our party that was on the house. That was greatly, appreciated of him and again; all, of the desserts were delicious. Unfortunately, the night didn’t end on a high note because one of parties guests would up getting charged not once, not twice, but three times over = each of our bills as individuals, but added together three times! Needless too say, their overall bill turned out to be nearly $1,000.00. On a final note; I think it’s safe to say none of us will be returning, at...

I visited this place last night, December 6th 2019.
As I was approaching the building, I saw a guy wearing an apron coming out. He walked around the building to smoke a cigarette. I walked in, sat at the bar, ordered a wine. Shortly after, the apron-man walked back in. Discretely, and with a great deal of HOPE, I observed if he was going to wash his hands; he did NOT, and started pounding on the dough people ate, and I wish I could say 'that' evening only, but I doubt this man quit smoking overnight.
Now, if you have never come here, the bathroom is right in front of his working station. All he had to do was make a SLIGHT left turn and he would have discovered the amazing invention we call a sink.
I was curious about the octopus they make here as others have raved about it. After watching that horrid spectacle, I decided to still venture and order it, as it is made back in the kitchen, though my imagination did wonder if higiene had befriended this establishment.
The Octopus: While it is nicely presented on a rectangular white plate and accompanied with a generous arugula salad, it is over marinated.
The octopus itself is tender, but rather salty. The arugula, which you will recognize only because you have seen arugula and not by it distinctive taste/flavor, is soaked in dressing, which was also salty.
The wine itself is overly priced, Manhattan priced. I have actually visited wine bars in NYC that offer better prices (and better dressed staff), and from specific regions in...
Read moreLet me first say that as a local, I've been to Aum Aum many times and always enjoyed the delicious food and atmosphere, but last night they lost a customer due to the incredibly rude woman behind the bar. I came in for dinner with 2 friends last night and it was packed so we sat at the bar. The woman asked us if we were eating dinner, and we said yes. As we start to look at the menu, she asks us for ID. I was surprised, because I've never been carded to eat at this restaurant, or any restaurant for that matter, especially one of the "higher-end" restaurants in the neighborhood. We hadn't even ordered water yet, so i was confused why we were being asked for ID. As we pulled out our IDs, I asked her why she is carding us, and she became very rude and said "its not me its my boss. I have to card everyone!" I looked around at a packed restaurant, really doubting she had carded every single person there, and a couple also sitting at the bar said "shes lying she didnt card us". My one friend did not have ID but showed her his VX card and she refused, saying she needs to see a picture ID. We are all in our late 30's, so on 1 hand maybe we should be flattered, but the whole thing just rubbed me the wrong way, and I couldn't sit there and spend money on food and drinks after being treated so poorly, before we had even ordered water!! Aum Aum is delicious, but they just lost a customer due to the incredibly rude and angry woman at the bar. Its...
