Disappointing Experience – Not Worth the Hype
I truly don’t understand how this place has a 4.7 rating — it either feels paid or managed through fake reviews. We were a group of five and ordered five separate meals. As soon as we sat down, the staff reminded us “no food sharing”, even though that’s already mentioned on the website and menu — unnecessary, but fine.
If you’re claiming to serve “Unlimited Kathiyawadi Food”, there are some basics that diners expect — rotla, ghee, gud, chhaas, khichdi, kadhi — and they should keep coming without constant reminders. But here, even the basics were missing. They brought one rotlo, one roti, and one puri for the entire table in the first round, and then we had to keep asking — and waiting — for everything else.
When I asked for ghee and gud, they brought the tiniest bowl and never came back. The papad was soft and stale. I had to request hot khichdi, and it came without kadhi. When we asked for ghee to go with it, again — a long wait.
My daughter ordered a Kathi roll, and it was not even edible. On top of that, they added gratuity to the bill without asking — even though we weren’t a large group.
We were served one bataka vada and never saw a refill. That’s not how a Kathiyawadi thali experience is supposed to be.
We took a detour from our Richmond to Connecticut drive just for this lunch, and it was honestly a mistake. I’m writing this review so others don’t waste their time and money like we did. If you’re looking for real Kathiyawadi hospitality and flavor — this is not...
Read moreI live in Dubai and on a visit to U. S. A. We were tired of eating bread etc and decided to visit New Kathiawadi Dhaba. I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. We are all foodie and were glad to see wide range of items on the menu and loved everything we ate. But what truly stood out — and deserves special mention — are their sweets. Each sweet offered just the right amount of sweetness. We tried the Kaju katli and it was pure bliss. The textures were spot on, and the natural flavors really came through. I hate silver vrkh due to its brain damaging chemicals and was very delighted to see Kaju Katli without it . Even those in our group who usually avoid desserts finished theirs completely — that says a lot! Not only were the sweets light and well-crafted, but they also felt thoughtful — using premium ingredients and a refined approach to flavor combinations. No artificial aftertaste, no sugar overload — just clean, elegant, satisfying treats. The service was equally commendable. Vandana was very warm, attentive, and genuinely caring. Attention to detail truly elevated the whole experience. Whether you're a dessert lover or someone who's usually cautious about sugar, New Kathiawadi Dhaba is a place you must try. It’s rare to find a restaurant that masters the art of just sweet enough, and this one does it perfectly. Highly recommended — especially if you love your sweets subtle, flavorful, and...

I was craving home food so went to this Kathyawadi Dhaba.
An absolute gem for anyone who loves authentic Indian cuisine! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm hospitality and the rich aroma of traditional spices. The ambiance perfectly reflects Indian culture — warm, inviting, and full of character, specially Janak and Vandana.
Every dish we ordered was flavorful and cooked to perfection. The vadapav, thali, sev tameta nu shaak was especially outstanding — rich in flavor and beautifully presented. You can truly taste the freshness and authenticity in every bite.
The service was attentive and courteous, making the entire experience even more enjoyable. Whether you’re craving comfort food or exploring new Indian flavors, this place is a must-visit.
